Christmas Celebrations at Barchester
Although we are in a different place to last Christmas, we all know that Christmas will still be a little bit different this year. Which is why our care homes are going above and beyond to ensure our residents have the best festive celebration. We have a number of fantastic events and activities planned to help bring that festive cheer to all that live and work in our homes, and nutritious Christmas menus packed full of delicious festive treats.
Festive activities and events
We are very excited for Christmas this year with many of our homes preparing for some lovely festive activities and events in the lead up to the big day.
From festive movie time, outings to see the decorations and lights at a local display, to baking mince pies and creating Christmas crackers, there are plenty of opportunities to celebrate. Here is a list of planned activities across our homes:
- Virtual Christmas Church services
- Carol singers and local orchestras/ theatre companies will perform in the garden
- Father Christmas Grotto in the garden for residents, family and friends
- Christmas cocktail making
- Horse and sleigh and reindeers will visit
- Card making workshops
- Virtual church services
- Christmas tree decorating
- Christmas parties
As well as local activities and events planned by our dedicated teams, we have a number of live virtual events planned with our partners to bring Christmas cheer to all:
- BloomingHaus, the master florist will be providing a wreath making demonstration for everyone to begin the Christmas celebrations and open our Christmas competition.
- Gold Finch Floral Studios will be showing us how to create fantastic floral bauble decorations
- Unilever will be providing a Christmas Extravaganza including truffle making and decorating, a Christmas quiz and singalong
- Blenheim Palace will be showing us their annual lights trail and Christmas decorations inside the palace
- English National Ballet will be providing a Nutcracker Christmas special with a performance workshop for all to enjoy.
Festive menus
One of the many things that makes Christmas so special in our homes is our delicious menus we have on offer for Christmas Day and across the whole festive period. We know how important food is at Christmas time and we've created special menus for Christmas Day with all the trimmings! Please see some example menus below.
