Activities at Cherry Trees Care Home
Our activities team are constantly striving to mentally and physically stimulate those we support by organising group and individual social events for anyone and everyone to participate in. There are regular outings in the minibus to nearby places of interest, including the local theatre, as well as visits from Pat dogs, musicians and entertainers. We also host bingo, quiz and knitter natter afternoons that we encourage relatives and the local community to attend. Our Gentleman's Club is also open to non-residents every Thursday afternoon from 2:30pm, join us for a tipple of your choice, we have plenty of snacks and chats. For the ladies, our beauty salon provides; hairdressing and nail pampering, you too can enjoy a drink and some well-deserved 'me' time. Activities are one of the most important aspects of a care home, so it is essential that our team are dedicated to ensuring that residents are entertained, and that life at Cherry Trees is fun and active.

Life at Cherry Trees Care Home
Residents remember the fallen on Armistice Day
Cherry Trees commemorated the signing of the Armistice Day agreement on the day that the guns finally fell silent. We joined the rest of the United Kingdom in holding a two-minute silence at the eleventh hour, on the eleventh day, of the eleventh month. As well as marking Armistice Day by wearing poppies and observing the national two-minute silence, residents took part in many crafting activities as well as trips out to St. Peters church in Wellesbourne.
Residents visited the church where we saw the stunning poppy cascade of 8,000 knitted poppies which had been installed down the side of St. Peters church tower. It was a huge community project; the bright red poppy cascade was originally meant to include 4,000 poppies but the enthusiasm for the project meant more and more poppies were created.
Audrey, a resident at Cherry Trees, said: “I've never seen something like this, it's so beautiful and made me feel like crying, it was very emotional” Anthea said, “It is very important that we keep the memories of those who fought alive and that we also think about those involved in conflicts around the world today.”
Intergenerational visit
This afternoon we had a visit from the lovely St.Benedict's sixth form students who helped us in making our painted rocks which we will be displaying in our memorial garden, keep an eye out for more information regarding our beautiful memorial garden coming soon!!
Creative crafts
Residents enjoyed a lovely morning with NV Arts and Health. We showed our creative sides in creating colourful fabric art ready for our patchwork quilt, so watch this space as we look to sharing our final result! We definitely added a splash of colour to our day.
Scrabble
Scrabble club, arts and crafts and pamper sessions were on the agenda of the day today, so much is always going on at Cherry Trees.
Pumpkin carving
Halloween at Cherry Trees we changed and called it pumpkin day so it was a fun filled day of themed activities and we had pumpkins galore!
The residents enjoyed carving out the pumpkins which we then used the flesh to make some delicious pumpkin cakes which were enjoyed by all. Pat said "I've never eaten pumpkin in a cake before but it is tasty' and Anthea asked if we could try plant the seeds so that is what we shall do.
Wear it Pink
On Friday 20th October we joined in with celebrating 'Wear it Pink' day during breast cancer awareness month along with hundreds of thousands of other people across the uk.
Our resident Derek said 'wear it pink day is so great and making these ribbons for such a great cause'
