Activities at Collingtree Park Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as they can, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join in with activities and events as often as they can.

Activities Coordinator

Martin Tilly-Reed

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Martin, I'm the activities coordinator here at Collingtree Park

My role is to ensure that our activities, outings and the entertainment we provide is stimulating and inclusive of all our residents no matter their challenges. It is important to me that our weekly calendar offers enriching experiences with music from live entertainers, visits to various locations outside the home, as well as arts and crafts tailored to individual abilities.

Getting to know our residents better is so important, and through regular family and friends’ meetings we can gain a greater understanding of their loved ones' interests and life prior to joining Collingtree Park that will make for a richer activities program to be developed.

I look forward to getting to know you, and your loved ones.

We are always open to new ideas. If you would like to get involved in any of our Life Enrichment activities or have a skill, or project you'd like to share with our residents, please click here  to contact the activities team direct. New entertainers and community links are always welcome.

Celebrating World Book Day

Happy World Book Day from us at Collingtree Park care home. Our residents love interacting with young children and earlier this week we had some lovely children from Collingtree Day Nursery join us for song, dance and some storytelling.

We were also joined by Charli from Debutots as well as Sam, our fabulous volunteer who supported our residents find their dancing feet!

Dementia Friendly Connections

Making new connections is a vital to keeping our residents part of the local community. Today our General Manager Tom took time out to visit Age UK Northamptonshire at The William and Patricia Venton Centre to personally deliver some homemade sweet treats in celebration of St David’s Day.

Jo Bird, the Editor of Age UK Northamptonshire's free quarterly magazine ‘Engage; provided Tom with several copies of the latest edition for our residents, staff and visitors to the home to enjoy.

Meeting with Jo gave us the opportunity to announce the homes launch of a new monthly ‘Dementia Friendly Café’ at Collingtree Park care home. Starting on 5th March 2023, then monthly on the first Wednesday of each month from 2pm – 4pm.

With complimentary refreshments, activities and advice for those living with dementia or caring for a loved one with dementia we hope to provide a safe, judgement free place for people to meet over a cup of tea where you can chat with friends and experienced professionals who understand the dementia community.

Highlighting 5* Hospitality!

We'd like to celebrate our Head Chef Jennifer and the Collingtree Park hospitality team. Jennifer has worked in the Healthcare Sector for the past 8 years and has a further 27 years’ experience of working in hospitality.

Since joining the team her culinary skills have transformed our residents’ meal times. Jennifer, along with her hospitality colleagues love to share ideas to constantly keep up with the latest trends to produce some appetising dishes. Getting the right balance is a must!

Yesterday’s menu was a fabulous example of just how flavoursome and enticing mealtimes have become. With a starter of homemade Mushroom soup or Feta Cheese salad followed by Beef Lasagne or Spicy Vegetable Burger. The sweet treat desert choices were a delight with rice or strawberry cream pudding to finish.

Our residents absolutely loved each dish, saying they were presented well, tasty and nutritious. We’d like to say a massive THANK YOU to our wonderful hospitality team for all they do and the pleasure they bring to our residents with every meal they produce. “Good food is the foundation of genuine happiness.” - Auguste Escoffier.

Celebrating St David's Day

We've had a wonderful day creating St David's Day bunting and decorating Daisy Lane with daffodils and leeks and all things Welsh. Residents enjoyed an information session about St. David, followed by tea and a Welsh cake. It was interesting to learn about the history of our Welsh residents and even practice some Welsh words and phrases.

We also had a Tom Jones singalong (and dance) on Bluebell Walk, finding alternative uses for the leeks!

Alpaca Animal Magic!

What a lovely day residents had yesterday, with a visit from Easton Way Farm Thank you Dani and Nick for bringing Malibu, Coco and Aurora to visit our residents, who thoroughly enjoyed petting and feeding the alpacas. Residents commented on their fluffy coat and smiley faces.

One resident said "You can’t help smiling when you stroke them, they are so soft it just makes you feel calm". Visits from animals can reduce stress, anxiety, and depression, as well as encouraging exercise and playfulness!
