Activities at Collingtree Park Care Home
Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as they can, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join in with activities and events as often as they can.
Martin Tilly-Reed
Hello, my name is Martin, I'm the activities coordinator here at Collingtree Park
My role is to ensure that our activities, outings and the entertainment we provide is stimulating and inclusive of all our residents no matter their challenges. It is important to me that our weekly calendar offers enriching experiences with music from live entertainers, visits to various locations outside the home, as well as arts and crafts tailored to individual abilities.
Getting to know our residents better is so important, and through regular family and friends’ meetings we can gain a greater understanding of their loved ones' interests and life prior to joining Collingtree Park that will make for a richer activities program to be developed.
I look forward to getting to know you, and your loved ones.
We are always open to new ideas. If you would like to get involved in any of our Life Enrichment activities or have a skill, or project you'd like to share with our residents, please click here to contact the activities team direct. New entertainers and community links are always welcome.

Life at Collingtree Park Care Home
Boat Trip
We could not have asked for a better day: we had sunshine, water and great company! The residents all enjoyed a lovely boat trip hosted by the ‘Crusader Community Boating’ company. We were their first clients this year to go out on the boat and they said we were their favourites!
The residents enjoyed a packed lunch and plenty of cups of tea. The crew talked about the different species of birds they encounter along the way and the history of how they drain the canal in areas that need to be patched or repaired.
Birthday Celebrations
Baroness, Jill, celebrated her 98th birthday with a visit from her family. They all enjoyed a champagne afternoon tea, served with fresh English strawberries!
Jill was a former member of parliament and achieved the honours of MBE, DBE & Baroness Knight of Collingtree. She only retired from the House of Lords in 2016 and, as of 2021, she is the oldest living female former member of parliament. We believe this is a huge accolade to add to her birthday celebrations.
Memory Lane
Jill, Mary, Gerald & Margaret all enjoyed a leisurely morning at Bell Plantation, enjoying coffee & cake in the conservatory. Although they had never been to the bell plantation, it is one of Jill’s favourite places and, during our conversations, Jill enlightened us with stories of her time in parliament.
Community Engagement
Residents were thrilled when a student from Woodland View Primary School delivered letters to them as part of the Collingtree and Loneliness Awareness Week. This is in conjunction with The Wooden Walls Café, which is a free tea & coffee morning, held every month in the Wooden Walls pub.
The residents are looking forward to visiting the café and also replying to the students' letters. Hopefully this is the beginning of a friendship between the elderly and the younger generation.
Flower arranging competition
Margaret, Joan and Mary went foraging for foliage in our Memory Lane community garden. Then they took part in the Barchester Life Enrichment online masterclass, hosted by Blooming Haus. Residents in the Collingtree Park dementia community were very creative in their flower arranging, making small individual arrangements and one larger one for the Barchester inter-home flower arranging competition.
Gardening Club Outing
Maureen, Isobelle, Anna and Joan, from the Collingtree Park residents’ gardening club, enjoyed a trip to the Hope Centre allotments. This local charity supports people who are homeless or living in poverty and we were met by Joe who manages the allotment project. He kindly showed us around, including an area which will become a sensory garden. We handed over some seedlings we have been growing at Collingtree Park for the Hope Centre to replant and nurture until the green beans are ready for eating.
