Activities at Collingtree Park Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as they can, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join in with activities and events as often as they can.

Activities Coordinator

Lucia Pivetta

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Lucia and I'm one of the Activities Coordinators here at Collingtree Park care home. My role is to enrich the lives of our residents by providing stimulating and person-centred activities. We offer something for everyone, including arts and crafts, games and live entertainment including visits to places of interest in the local area. I love to provide one-to-one time and sensory activities with residents who need a little more support.

Getting to know our residents better is so important, and through regular meetings with family and friends I can gain a greater understanding of their loved ones' interests and life prior to joining the Collingtree Park community.

We are always open to new ideas. If you would like to get involved in any of our Life Enrichment activities or have a skill, or project you'd like to share with our residents, please click here to contact the activities team direct. New entertainers and community links are always welcome.

Life at Collingtree Park Care Home

Collingtree Park donates Easter Eggs to charity

Staff, residents, families and friends of Collingtree Park Care Home donated Easter treats for Northampton charity Earth’s Lonely Angels. We have supported their wonderful work in the past and are pleased to continue helping people who are elderly, vulnerable, homeless, isolated or lonely, as well as families who are struggling to manage at this time. We were overwhelmed by donations from all those connected to our home, showing that a little kindness goes such a long way. Resident, Hazel, and Debbie Willetts, Head of the Dementia Care Team at Collingtree Park, presented Aine from Earth’s Lonely Angels with boxes full of Easter eggs for them to distribute in the wider community. We look forward to continuing our relationship with Earth’s Lonely Angels.

A sunny day for Eileen's Birthday at Collingtree Park

We had a lovely hot, sunny day on Wednesday and made the most of the opportunity to enjoy being outdoors with a nice cup of tea and some cake.  It was a special day for Eileen who turned 92 so we all sang ‘Happy Birthday’. It was lovely to see everyone outside enjoying the fresh air and having a relaxed catch up.

Easter Cake Competition entry by Collingtree Park

Residents on the ground floor at Collingtree Park were very excited to be making Easter cupcakes in Baking Club this week. We were delighted one of our gentlemen joined us too, as often the gents prefer to eat the end results. He was welcomed by the ladies and had a great time. This week’s baking was for the Barchester Easter Cake competition which is open to all Barchester homes. Memory Lane residents made a lovely seasonal base for the cupcakes to be displayed on for the Collingtree Park competition entry.

Happy Easter

At Collingtree Park our residents with dementia have enjoyed making Easter cards for family and friends. Colouring pictures is a very enjoyable activity and the Easter season generated conversations about family traditions, church and how much we enjoy chocolate.

Pamela and Tracey step out for dementia

Pamela, a new resident at Collingtree Park, often joins Tracey, the home’s Administrator, as she tops up her steps for the Alzheimer’s Society Step Up for Dementia challenge to walk 850,000 steps from March to May. Alzheimer’s Society chose this number of steps as there are currently 850,000 people living with dementia in the UK. Tracey is on target to achieve her goal by walking 3 miles every evening after work and 10 miles at the weekend. She has raised £600 so far towards her £1000 sponsorship target. Collingtree Park welcomes residents with dementia and is pleased to support this charity. Pamela likes to join Tracey for a walk around the garden at Collingtree Park as she used to walk 5 miles a day with her dogs - she asks Tracey about her step count every day. Keep going, Tracey!

Knit and Natter

We are getting on well with our knitting project to make fingerless gloves for Northamptonshire Community Foundation's Winter Wellbeing Campaign. Collingtree Park resident, Joan, aged 100, has years of knitting experience and has been teaching General Manager Natalie how to knit, with the help of team members Debbie and Lindsay, at our Knit and Natter Club. (Natalie is trying hard but needs a bit more practice!)
