Activities at Drummond Grange Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Katie Nicolson
Katie Nicolson is our Head of activities here at Drummond since August 2023 beforehand she worked as an activity assistant in the home for two years. Before coming to Drummond Katie has worked in many care roles over the years and studied Psychology and Sociology at Queen Margaret’s University and was awarded a Degree of Bachelor of science in Psychology and Sociology at the start of 2022. Katie loves being part of the Activity department here at Drummond Grange and bringing new and exciting opportunities and experiences to the residents. When she’s not at work Katie is a local Girl Guide leader and youth leader for her churches youth group.

Life at Drummond Grange Care Home
Christmas Day Lunch at Drummond Grange
Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without a lovely meal. Ahmet Akkur the home's chef, along with the rest of the Kitchen staff cooked up a beautiful meal. Resident's, staff and visitor's enjoyed some of the rich food on offer.
New Years Day at Drummond Grange
The residents, staff and friends of Drummond Grange all had a good laugh this New Years Day! Here, one of the Charge Nurses, Nettie is trying to catch a Malterser rolling rolling down the tape!
Christmas Party at Drummond Grange
Residents at Drummond Grange enjoyed a night of fun at the Christmas Party! A local disco came into the Home where the lounge suddenly became a dance hall.
With lots of lovely food and plenty of drink, staff joined the residents to have a great party night. The evening ended around midnight and there was still a few left standing on their feet waiting for more!
Drummand Grange Christmas Raffle
Once again Drummond Grange had a marvelous response to the Christmas Raffle. Staff produced Hampers fit for a queen when they all tried to out beat each other with who had the best one. Some of the hampers consisted of drinks, a scottish hamper, sweets hamper, and more. Of course it wasn't only hampers, a total of 41 prizes were on offer. They ranged from the Amazon Fire, 6ft folding Snooker table, smellie sets, boxes of chocolates, bottles of Wine to name just a few.
Eleanor's New Year Honours Awards
Today (Hogmanay) we had Eleanor's Honours Awards. Everyone had a great time and sorry to say we did not get as many pictures of the awards as we would have liked. The resident's and staff enjoyed drinks from the bar and dancing to our regular DJ Ryan Sturrock.
There were lots of awards handed out throughout the afternoon, to start, there were a group of 21 people throughout the home who during this year had 100 per cent attendance. To follow, there we had some of the fun awards! Eleanor had given fun names to each award and a description of what it was. Awards ranging from Scrooge to Mrs Claus, best Christmas Tree Climber, Party Animal, to the Loch Ness Monster!
Also today was the 40th birthday of one of the residents, Steven Ferguson and we wish him a great day and many more to come.
