Activities at Flowerdown Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Life at Flowerdown Care Home

,

Gingerbread House

Residents and staff worked together to make, bake and then decorate and build a gingerbread house just in time for Christmas. They had lots of fun, even if it didn’t turn out quite as expected.

Children in Need

Residents and staff of Flowerdown completed their challenge to raise funds for 'Children in Need' at 5pm on 13th November, raising an amazing £180 for such a worthy cause.

They started their virtual journey on 9th October, using a seated pedal exerciser and finished with a combined cycling time of 37 hours to reach their goal: the Scottish border.

They had so much fun achieving far more than we all expected we would. What's their next challenge? Well, watch this space; the one clue is that they have asked for a second exerciser, so they can travel further.

Flowerdown's Facelift

The exterior of Flowerdown has had a total facelift and is looking amazing. The work continues, so whilst the scaffolding is now down, it is the turn of the drive and the car park.

Our New Visiting Pod

We were delighted to welcome our first visitor into our internal visiting pod. We understand how difficult it has been for the residents of Flowerdown and their families during this time and how important visits are to psychological well-being. Whilst we still live in uncertain times, we hope our visiting pod will offer some comfort to both residents and their loved ones.

Biscuit Decorating

NAPA (National Activity Provider’s Association) ran a competition in conjunction with McVities.

The residents were to choose a theme that meant something to them, get creative, take a photo and then enjoy the products of their labour with a nice cup of tea.

The unanimous decision, of course, had to be ‘the historical city of Winchester’! The residents said winning would be nice, but they just had fun taking part!

Autumn Arts & Crafts

Residents have been very creative this month during their arts and crafts afternoon. Susan, one of our Resident Ambassadors, proudly shows of the results of these sessions.
