Activities at Mallard Court Care Home
We provide a wide range of group activities and individual one to one activities to meet our residents needs including musical entertainers, PAT dog visits, minibus outings, themed events and much more!
We take a person centred approach when planning each individuals activities so they can achieve a feeling of self worth and well-being.
We hold monthly meetings with the residents and also regular meetings with their family and friends, discussing any ideas that they may have, and also any problems that their may have. Both of our activities coordinators, Steve and Lynne, have completed NAPA Activity Workers Level 2 Award training, and are continually seeking new ideas so we can ensure life in the home is as varied and interesting as possible. We encourage strong community links with the local schools, colleges and local charities in the community. Steve is supported also by his dogs, Tia, Pebbles and Oscar who give great pleasure to the residents in our home, and can often be seen either on a persons lap or being taken for a walk around the home. Many of the visitors that come into Mallard Court commented that it is so friendly and welcoming.
Steve Moss
Hi, my name is Steve, and I have been a Lifestyle Coordinator at Mallard Court since 2006, and have achieved the NAPA (National Association of Activity Providers) Level 2 Award in Activity Provision in the Care Sector.
We provide a wide range of activities for the people we support, as well as for their families and friends. I also love to have one-to-one chats with residents who like to reminisce about their lives over a cup of tea and some biscuits.
We have our own minibus and have fun days out sight-seeing, having a picnic or going a local pub for a drink and a meal. We also arrange for local artists to provide musical entertainment for everyone at Mallard Court.

Life at Mallard Court Care Home
A splash of colour
Creating a splash of colour! Mallard Court residents and staff had a fun filled afternoon together creating a colourful ‘Butterfly’ mural for display in the home for everyone to enjoy as they walk by. Everyone had a really good time and there was lots of laughter as things got a little messy, but thankfully the paint was water based!
Birthday celebrations at Mallard Court
Mallard Courts Residents Ambassador, Jeremy celebrated his 73rd birthday surrounded by the other residents and staff. The birthday boy enjoyed a lovely meal and a delicious birthday cake especially prepared by the homes chef. Jeremy commented that he had a wonderful day and was very much looking forward to this week’s National Pie celebrations and sampling all of the goods! Happy Birthday Jeremy.
Alice in Wonderland themed day
Residents and staff all got involved with the spirit of the day, and staff dressed up with Alice, White Rabbit and Hatter to make guest appearances. A Mallard Court spokesman said "Residents and staff prepared for the day making posies and decorating the dining room with lots of wonderful memorabilia related to this beautiful story and reminiscing with the musical soundtrack playing in the background". Dianne Peters, General Manager at Mallard Court, said "This has been a huge amount of fun and sparked a lot of memories for residents to talk about, creating a visually enhancing experience for our residents".
National Nest Box Week
Mallard Court in Bridlington has decided to make its garden more attractive to birds by planting shrubs and flowers that will benefit wildlife throughout the year and have been busy constructing nesting boxes for the large garden areas.
Steve Moss, Lifestyle Co-ordinator and residents at Mallard Court have decided to plant brambles, hawthorn and honeysuckle, which provide berries, attract insects birds like to eat, and provide good nesting material.
Nest boxes for smaller birds have been strategically positioned around the gardens and several will provide residents with a good view of all the comings and goings should birds take up residence.
Home celebrate Valentines
Mallard Court care home, in Bridlington, was filled with flowers, cards and sweets in celebration of St Valentine’s Day.
Staff and residents celebrated the day of love by creating heart-shaped decorations to decorate the home and gifting each other home-made sweets, cakes and treats.
General Manager, Dianne Peters, said: “It’s been a very different Valentine’s Day but we’ve all had a lovely day nonetheless. Lots of our residents were able to contact their loved ones either using our
Skype video call facility or by telephone. We’ve had a whole range of treats and Valentine’s themed fun and we have enjoyed every moment of it!”
