Activities at Mallard Court Care Home
We provide a wide range of group activities and individual one to one activities to meet our residents needs including musical entertainers, PAT dog visits, minibus outings, themed events and much more!
We take a person centred approach when planning each individuals activities so they can achieve a feeling of self worth and well-being.
We hold monthly meetings with the residents and also regular meetings with their family and friends, discussing any ideas that they may have, and also any problems that their may have. Both of our activities coordinators, Steve and Lynne, have completed NAPA Activity Workers Level 2 Award training, and are continually seeking new ideas so we can ensure life in the home is as varied and interesting as possible. We encourage strong community links with the local schools, colleges and local charities in the community. Steve is supported also by his dogs, Tia, Pebbles and Oscar who give great pleasure to the residents in our home, and can often be seen either on a persons lap or being taken for a walk around the home. Many of the visitors that come into Mallard Court commented that it is so friendly and welcoming.
Steve Moss
Hi, my name is Steve, and I have been a Lifestyle Coordinator at Mallard Court since 2006, and have achieved the NAPA (National Association of Activity Providers) Level 2 Award in Activity Provision in the Care Sector.
We provide a wide range of activities for the people we support, as well as for their families and friends. I also love to have one-to-one chats with residents who like to reminisce about their lives over a cup of tea and some biscuits.
We have our own minibus and have fun days out sight-seeing, having a picnic or going a local pub for a drink and a meal. We also arrange for local artists to provide musical entertainment for everyone at Mallard Court.

Life at Mallard Court Care Home
Resident celebrates 94-years young!
Mallard Court resident Joyce celebrated her 94 years young on Sunday 25th October. Joyce was originally from Wales and worked as a waitress and an office worker. Joyce received lovely presents and cards from her family and celebrated her birthday in style with the other residents at Mallard Court with a lovely birthday cake presented by the dedicated care team at Mallard Court.
Joyce commented “ I have had a happy and fulfilled life and love my family dearly” Happy Birthday and Congratulations from everyone at Mallard Court!
Harvest quiz fun
Residents of Mallard Court had some fun around Harvest Festival with activities reading to residents the history of Harvest Festival which was very interesting and created a discussion about past memories of this special occasion. Residents and staff played together as they showed their competitive side guessing what the various vegetables and herbs were!. There was some unusual vegetables including a Butter Squash, British Celeriac and British Choi!
Residents joined members of the care team in the fun. It was a visual and sensory experience and everyone had culinary delights making some delicious soups together with some of the vegetables.
A paw-fect visitor
Mallard Court residents were treated to a paw-fect visitor when the homes nurse, Julie brought in her 6 year old rescue, a little black Pug called Elsa to meet residents and staff. Elsa was an instant hit with everyone and we all agreed how cute Elsa is and how lucky she has nurse Julie to look after her! Stephen Moss, activities coordinator said "dogs are the best therapy and this visitor has brought joy to many of our residents who fondly recall their own pets which they have owned and we look forward to Elsa visiting again soon"
Sally recognised for 20-years service
A Laundry assistant at Mallard Court care home in Bridlington has received a prestigious 20 Year Service Award in celebration of working at Barchester Healthcare for 20 years.
Sally Holtby started at Barchester Healthcare in October 2000 and has worked with residents and their relatives to ensure that their needs have been met over the years.
Residents enjoy themed evening
Residents of Mallard Court enjoyed a superb selection of Chinese dishes prepared by our talented chefs. The dining room was decorated with flags, dragons and lanterns. Wine was sipped while listening to relaxing Chinese music. It was a lovely time to all get together and enjoy a fantastic meal together and interesting facts and photography on China. Residents are looking forward to the next themed activity.
Residents enjoy pet therapy
We are so fortunate at Mallard Court to have pat dog visits with Lifestyle co-ordinator Stephen bringing his own pat dogs in to our home for the residents to give a cuddle and play with them.
Pet therapy is a very important activity for most of the residents which will bring back fond memories of having their own pets during their lifetime
