Activities at Marriott House and Lodge Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Christmas Cake Competition

We decided to enter the Barchester Christmas Cake Competition. Relief Chef, Anna, and Care Practitioner, Mandy, made an amazing cake together!

Residents were keen to enter the competition as well, so Elaine helped them to design, make and decorate their own. The end result not only looked amazing, but it tasted amazing too.

Baking Group

Baking Group

Residents at Marriott House & Lodge love to bake and look forward to Thursdays, which is when Hilda hosts the Baking Group. Most recently, they made mince pies, which were delicious.

Celebrating Success

Celebrating Success

We were delighted when Team Leader, Amanda McGowan, completed her training to become a Care Practitioner – a new role which will enable her to support nurses in the home.

Amanda was presented with her certificates at a celebration in the home to mark this achievement.

She is the third person at Marriott House & Lodge to complete the course, and is already making a big different in maintaining and developing our standard of care.

Well done, Amanda!

Missie Mesmerises

Missie Mesmerises

We were very lucky to have a special visit from ‘Missie’ in December. She was much-loved by everyone who met her and we hope she will visit again in the future.

Pimp My Zimmer Frame

A recent craze has been sweeping across care homes that involves residents decorating their own walking sticks, zimmer frames and wheelchairs. Research has shown that brightly coloured individualised walking aids are more recognisable to individuals and can help reduce the risk of falls. These are some that we have already decorated and we will be working with residents to decorate even more!

Carol Service

On Tuesday 19th December, the Chichester Anna Chaplaincy team visited Marriott House & Lodge and hosted a special Christmas service. Many thanks to all who attended!
