Activities at Pittsmead Grange Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Debbie Thompson

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Debbie and I am the Activities Co-ordinator at Pittsmead Grange.

This is my first time working for Barchester, I am so excited to be part of such a wonderful team and experience the growth of our beautiful home. Throughout my career I have worked in sports and entertainment including coaching a team of budding athletes. I also have a history of working as an entertainments manager for both Warner and Haven Holidays.

I am really looking forward to supporting our residents in living a full and enriched life every single day in our home.

Life at Pittsmead Grange Care Home

Finding our inner artist

We have been using the power of the arts to inspire people living with dementia to get creative, connect, learn new skills and most importantly, have fun.Today, one of our much loved Senior Carers, Constantin, supported our residents living in our Memory Lane Community to create this beautiful piece using paints, pencils and flowers from the garden!

Italian Night

Benvenuti alla serata italiana di Pittsmead Grange! We’ve only gone and done it again - We pulled out all the stops this evening for an Italian Themed Resident & Family Soirée.Pre-dinner drinks consisted of Limoncello Spritzers, then an authentic menu of Zucchini Boats, Lemon & Ricotta Spaghetti, Pan Alfredo Pollo and handmade Quattro Formaggio Pizzas, finishing with a fabulous Tiramisu.Residents and guests enjoyed wonderful entertainment from Kate Bassett and the dance floor was alive. Several residents and guests said “The food, the atmosphere and the entertainment were top class, thank you so much to the team for making such a special evening for us”.

Gardening club prep for our sensory garden

We have recently started the preparation for our sensory garden and everyone is thoroughly enjoying the project. One of our residents said “I love it here, it’s so open and makes me feel at peace and relaxed”When gardening, there is the opportunity for connection. This could be by working together with others, or by sharing enjoyment and the things you grow. There is 'growing' evidence that access to the outdoors and nature can play an important role supporting someone living with dementia.

Time to refuel

Our doors are always open to welcome our local Royal Mail postman to have a refreshment break during his busy day. He is always a friendly face ensuring that our residents letters or packages reach them on time and in perfect condition. We like to welcome all professionals and delivery drivers to stop and refuel throughout their busy days serving our local community. If you’re in the area, our doors are open, pop in!

Beautiful Moments

Have you ever heard the phrase “A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words?” Well, we’ve got a treasure trove beautifully encapsulating this timeless saying! As we journey through life, let us remember that every picture we encounter is a story waiting to be discovered. Sometimes, no words are needed, please just take a moment to enjoy this beautiful engagement between one of our carers and a resident using our Magic Table, supplied to us by The Digital Rainbow Ltd

Only the best for our residents

Andrew, our Head Chef and Wendy, our Second Chef here at Pittsmead Grange have done nothing but impress the residents, guests and staff with their fabulous skills in the kitchen.

This week, Andrew made a Banana Flan with Whipped Cream as one of his deserts and it was such a hit. The residents enjoyed every bite of it and quite honestly, cant wait for Banana Flan Desert Day to come again. Our Chefs here focus on the quality of the food to ensure the highest standards for all residents here at Pittsmead Grange.
