Activities at Pittsmead Grange Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Life at Pittsmead Grange Care Home

John's birthday celebrations

Yesterday, here at Pittsmead Grange we celebrated John's Birthday.

John is our General Manager and he is always working hard for the home. We felt he deserved a special celebration, so the staff and residents came together to sing for him and our wonderful second chef, Wendy, baked an amazing Lemon Drizzle cake!

The residents and the team loved sharing his special day with him!

Knit and Natter

If we are honest, this morning's Knit and Natter here at Pittsmead Grange became just a natter!

Once everyone came together, we couldn't stop the endless flow of stories and laughter, so why stop?!

As we know, socialising with others can do wonders for stimulation and mood, this morning was evidence of that. We encourage our residents here at Pittsmead Grange to spend time together but they always have the choice.

Cupcake Decorating

At Pittsmead Grange, we have been enjoying some cupcake decorating, immediately followed by cupcake eating!

There were smiles all round which wasn't surprising seeing as we were all on a sugar high!

Debbie, our activities coordinator spent the morning with the residents giving them decorating tips and teaching them some of her special skills.

A pamper session in the salon!

Here at Pittsmead Grange, our hair salon also boasts of a lovely nail bar. Sara took full advantage of this yesterday, making the most of the time to relax whilst Amy did her nails.

Fresh nails and some peace and quiet, who wouldn't enjoy this?!

Pittsmead Grange is Officially Open!

It brings us great pleasure to announce that our home opened its doors in style yesterday, with a Grand Opening performed by Tony and Wendy Barnes, the homes very first residents, in front of invited guests from the local community.

Barchester’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr Pete Calveley, and General Manager, John Cunningham, hosted the event and invited guests to view the stunning new 50 bed care home, along with its beautiful landscaped gardens, which is now open and welcoming its first residents.

The home has been designed with residents’ comfort in mind and the team at Pittsmead Grange will offer residential support, respite stays and specialised dementia care, all delivered by a dedicated and passionate team of trained professionals.

At Barchester, everything revolves around the residents. From the person-centred care, to the dining experience and hospitality which is tailored to residents’ tastes and preferences, and the programme of life enrichment activities which offer choice that supports resident well-being across mind, body and soul. Each resident is an individual, and so too is the care that Barchester provides, and resident choice plays a really big part in that.
