Life at Sherwood Court Care Home
Valentine's Day at Sherwood Court
Sherwood Court Nursing Home, in Preston, was filled with flowers, cards and sweets in celebration of St Valentine’s Day.
Staff and residents celebrated the day of love by receiving gifts from our local Primary school that had been handmade by the Year 6 class of St Claire’s Catholic Primary school in Preston. Our residents where grateful to receive the thoughtful gifts from the children and it made them feel loved. The Activity coordinator and Amin Assistant teamed up to decorate the communal areas to remind the residents that they are love and thought of during these uncertain times.
General Manager, Elizabeth Brotherton, said: “It’s been a very different Valentine’s Day but we’ve all had a lovely day nonetheless. Lots of our residents were able to see their loved ones either using our visiting suite or by a video call. We’ve had a whole range of treats and Valentine’s themed fun and we enjoyed every moment of it!”

National Story Telling Week
Once upon a time, storytelling was a way to pass the time. Now, it's an excellent way to entertain and teach each other new ideas. This is why National Storytelling Week is celebrated annually by all ages who read the likes of folktales, fairy tales, love stories and more.
Sherwood Court kicked off the week with finding which tales were the favourite of residents and throughout will be reading extracts from their favourite books from Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and the Frog King by the Brothers Grimm.
Puzzle Day
Residents at Sherwood Court recently enjoyed a number of their favourite puzzles from crosswords, Sudoku and the good old classic jigsaw as part of Puzzle Day which is celebrated on the 29th January.
Colleagues were able to spend one to one time with residents as they completed their favourite puzzles which is a great way to stimulate the brain, have good hand eye coordination and problem solving. What’s your favourite puzzle?
