Activities at Tewkesbury Fields Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Paula Lourenco

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Paula and I’m the Activities coordinator at Tewkesbury Fields care home. I’ve joined Barchester healthcare in 2020.

As part of the lifestyle enrichment team, I will be organising daily activities, ensuring that residents have varied activities to choose from each day. I love enriching our residents’ lives, creating memories and be able to provide meaningful activities to each one of the residents living at Tewkesbury fields.

Life at Tewkesbury Fields Care Home

Dementia Training with Dementia Care Specialist Deena Heaney MBE

The new staff at Tewkesbury Fields had the honour of being trained by Dementia Care Specialist Deena Heaney MBE yesterday. We feel so privileged that Deena took the time to visit us and enhance our staffs understanding and knowledge of Dementia.

Even though Tewkesbury Fields will be a residential home it is vital for us that our staff are fully trained in every aspect of care and completely understand all areas dementia care.

Gold Standard Training

Barchester Healthcare pride themselves on delivering first class training to all of their staff. This enables our staff to be trained to the highest of standards and more importantly provides life saving skills for our residents safety.

This week the new staff at Tewkesbury Fields Care Home have started their training with New Build Trainers Sadie and Tony. Today they have all excelled in the Emergency First Aid at Work assessment. We are so proud to have such a wonderful set of staff here at Tewkesbury Fields!

Age UK Gloucestershire

Emma, our HSA, had the pleasure of meeting with Helen this morning at Tewkesbury Fields. Helen is the the Head of Age Friendly Innovation at Age UK Gloucestershire.

Age UK Gloucestershire are in the process of researching Tewkesbury to gain valuable insight as to what the residents would like to see happening in their town for the over 65's.

This morning, Chris - the Community Engagement Manager for Age UK Gloucestershire, is at Morrisons gathering information from shoppers to see what clubs or events they would like in Tewkesbury. This is a super exciting opportunity and to have the support of Age UK is fantastic.

Linking the Community

Emma visited Priors Park Neighbourhood Project and met with Project Manager - Ruth and Creative Workshop Facilitator - Laura to find out more about PPNP. The project is invaluable to the community, it aims to support mental health and other health issues by combating isolation and loneliness. They also provide services such as an internet café, careers advice from National Careers Service and information drop-ins from The Citizen’s Advice Bureau.

We hope to utilize the PPNP and keep our residents involved in the community by getting involved with all they have to offer!

Veterans Coffee Morning

This morning our Home Services advisor, Emma, visited the Armed Forces Veterans coffee morning at the Northway Community Hub & Parish Office. The group provides the perfect opportunity for Veterans and their families to meet together and enjoy a chat, a hot drink and snacks with like-minded people.

It was especially interesting to learn about the amazing women in the group who served and to celebrate them on International women's day. We thank you for all your hard work and dedication!

Blessed by Reverend Chris Moss

Our Home Services Advisor, Emma, was pleased to welcome Reverend Chris Moss to Tewkesbury Fields this morning. Chis kindly offered to lead services in the home and will support our residents when they arrive.

Chris took a moment to bless our care home, each room within it and all of the staff and residents health and safety. We cannot thank him enough for his ongoing support and guidance.
