Activities at Kenwyn Care Home

Lisa Miners brought sunshine and smiles to Kenwyn once again with her fun-filled 'Songs of Sunshine' performance! Residents sang along, tapped their toes, and even got up to dance, making for a wonderful joy filled afternoon of musical memories. Music holds a special place in fostering memories and reminiscence, which is why we strive to offer diverse musical acts that cater to everyone's tastes. All our events are open to anyone who would like to join, so keep an eye out for the next performance and why not come along and create some wonderful memories together!

Our BT Community Companion calls are a hit week after week, offering our residents the chance to connect with BT's wonderful volunteers, providing a fantastic opportunity for socialising and making new friends.

Last week, our lovely resident, Margaret had a lovely chat with Justine. They exchanged stories about the breathtaking landscapes of Cornwall and Margaret's grandsons starting university. Margaret recently moved here to Kenwyn and found comfort in connecting with Justine, making settling into Kenwyn feel even more like home.

Last week blessed us with days of glorious Cornish sunshine, and we soaked up every ray we could! To cap off a perfect week, yesterday we gathered in the garden for cheese platters and prosecco, sharing laughter and good company with friends. It was a beautiful day, and although we have some rain again, last week set the tone for a promising summer ahead. Here's to many more sunny days in the garden soon!

Our complimentary Breakfast for Emergency and Medical Workers was off to a flying start today. Mike and Olly were our first takers of the day today – and what a beautiful day it is.

With freshly baked pastries and a mug of hot coffee, they were both happy, especially as they took some homemade Carrot Cake away with them for later!

For the past 9 months, Pastor Charles Fleming from The Shekinah Centre Christian Church in Penzance has been a true blessing to our Kenwyn residents. His regular visits have brought personal and intimate services and prayer to our residents, offering them comfort, support, and a sense of spiritual fulfilment. Pastor Charles has forged beautiful connections with our residents, who eagerly anticipate his visits, as you can see from the smiles in these pictures.

We recognise the significance of spirituality in the lives of many residents, and we're deeply grateful to Shekinah Church and Pastor Charles's commitment to serving our community.

We invite anyone who would like to experience these uplifting services to join us on the second Thursday of every month at 11.30am.

Here at Kenwyn, enhancing our residents' quality of life is a top priority. That's why the community table in Memory Lane is always busy with games, jigsaws, friendly competitions, reading materials, and the Magic Table interactive light projection system.

These activities are always on the go, ensuring to promote physical movement, social interaction, and most importantly, fun! Research has shown that this positively impacts individuals living with dementia, providing sensory stimulation, relaxation, and chances to reminisce.

Please feel free to join in anytime you pop by! Grab a cup of tea, have a seat and jump in with the activity. Our residents love the chance to chat to visitors.
