Activities at Mount Tryon Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Hatching Chicks In our Home

At Mount Tryon, we had the amazing opportunity to hatch our own seven baby chicks this week, which was an amazing experience.

One of our residents was especially happy about the experience because she owned The Brown Egg Farmer farm, which she owned for ten thousand hens. The farm is still in operation today and has been for 67years, she passed it on to her son and grandson. We were fortunate to have two black chicks with a cute yellow patch on their heads hatch out of our seven chicks. She had never held a black chick before, as she always had brown Hens for brown Eggs

Cuddles with our chicks have been enjoyable for all of our residents, and they will continue until Friday, when they will be returned and placed in excellent homes.

It was a wonderful experience, but we shall miss them for sure.

Our own Master Golf Tournament

Since this is the Masters Golf Tournament, we competed well here at Mount Tryon.

Almost everyone tried their hand at hitting a hole in one during our fantastic time, and several of them succeeded.

We will continue to schedule this activity because everyone had a great time and it was a topic of conversation for the remainder of the day

We would like to say a huge thank you to Lady Captain Laura at Torquay Golf club, for loaning us their putters, they bought us so much fun.

We all Enjoy our indoor/outdoor horticulture Activity

We began with indoor horticulture, where our seeds took off and grew so successfully that we had to upgrade to larger seed cells.

Next, we turned our attention outside, where we needed to make some much-needed preparations before planting our future plants.

We are happy to report that a few of our crops: cucumbers, tomatoes, beetroot, spinach, leeks, sprouts, and spring onions, are in the growing stage. Despite the fact that we still have a lot of work ahead of us, we are excited to watch our crops flourish.

Mother’s Day

For all of our mothers, Mother's Day at Mount Tryon held great significance.

Everyone enjoyed a delicious lunch prepared to perfection by our Deputy Chef Jo, Our Residents were joined by there Sons and Daughters which made their day extra special

Jo baked a gorgeous cakes as well for our afternoon tea.

Connie 100th Birthday

Connie, one of our lovely residents at Mount Tryon, turned 100 years old.

The celebrations included four generations of family members gathering together to enjoy this momentum occasion, one daughter travelling all the way from Australia to be here today. We enjoyed a specially designed cake with her own old photos, a gorgeous personalised duvet cover, and a birthday card from the King and Queen.

Our staff at Mount Tryon participated as well, and Jo, our second chef baked Connie one of her favourite cakes.

Connie received an abundance of cards from people close and far away, including an email from an American care facility!

Happy 100th Birthday dear Connie.

Knit and Knatter

We had a really successful knit and natter activity session today at Mount Tryon. Which take place every other Tuesday Morning

Everyone enjoys a good chat, and it feels great to accomplish a goal without feeling like it took much work.
