Activities at Oulton Park Care Home

We have a wonderful team here at Oulton Park and we all work together to provide a stimulating, active environment for our residents that live here. We are always looking for new and innovative ideas for our residents to be part of here, and our activities coordinator works very hard on planning and providing a stimulating busy schedule of activities, as well as assisting the residents with their daily living preferences. We have regular meetings with our families and residents to make sure we are providing things to suit their preferences. We as a home are registered with the National Activity Providers Association and strive to provide a person-centred approach for our residents here.

Louise Hunter-Hall

Life Enrichment & Activities Coordinator

Hello my name is Louise, I am the life enrichment and activities coordinator at Oulton park care centre.

I joined Oulton Park late 2023 but I have worked in the care industry for over 20 years and I have a compassion for my role and work. During the 20years I have supported many different adults with different care needs including, nursing care, physical disabilities, learning disabilities, independent living and 1:1 needs. I have both my level 2&3 in care and level 2 in sign language.

At Oulton my role is to create and organise a range of engaging and meaningful activities. My role brings me a great deal of comfort and joy.

If I can just make 1 persons life better during my working day at Oulton Park then the day has been a success. I feel honoured, fortunate and blessed to do the job I do.

Saint George saves the day

Saint George’s day here at Oulton park, means tales of saint George defeating the dragon, knights and fair maidens walking the halls of Oulton park.

Everyone at Oulton park had great fun enjoying the fancy dress, we baked tasty cupcakes decorated in the English flag. And in the afternoon we tested the knowledge of our residents about the famous Christian martyr. Along with announcing the winner of the best shield competition, which was design by the residents last week. The day was full of fun and laughter as Staff and Residents travelled back in time to Medieval England and defeated the Dragon.

Big birthday bash

The home and staff were dressed in 1960s themed attire. in the afternoon we were joined by jonny Laff  for an amazing musical performance the residents and staff dancing, singing and smiling together.  Truly such a wonderful day and we were so grateful to be able to celebrate with Joan and pat on their birthday.

A trip to Neverland

The residents and staff enjoyed a morning of wonder, for our Easter celebrations we were joined by The 3rd Oulton Guides, Brownies and rainbows for a peter pan themed scavenger hunt. The home transformed itself into Neverland. the staff, residents and visitor dressed as characters from the story and in groups they explored the home finding clues based on the childhood story book. Once all the items had been found we all enjoyed a campfire singalong where the children taught the residents and staff the words and dance moves, Great fun was had by all.

A trip for some pie and mash

Each month we host a lunch club where the residents get to try new and different foods or even foods that were special to the resident as they were growing up. This month  the residents decided they would like to try some food from our local area. When talking  they heard of a new pie and mash stall had opened locally and the residents couldn’t resist and trip down to try the tasty British dish. So two of our lovely gentlemen went to our local sea side pavilion and enjoyed traditional pie and mash and of course they had to have some liqueur which is the traditional sauce to have with the pie and mash, The gentlemen also enjoyed a crisp pint to go with their meal.  It was a wonderful lunch we chatted and laughed speaking about their lives and memory’s they hold dear of our local town. Whilst there we got to see all the amazing work of the local community. We defiantly look forward to going again.

Our wonderful mothers

what a lovely weekend was had by all celebrating all of the wonderful mothers at Oulton park for mother’s day. The residents and their families joined together to enjoy an afternoon of cake and tea, made by our amazing chefs. The smiles from both the residents and their families was a wonderful sight to see. Being able to show appreciation and love to our mothers is something that that we are grateful and lucky to be able to do. At Oulton park we are very much a big happy family and getting to celebrate these special days together is truly what makes our job so special.
