Activities at Parley Place Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Activities Co-ordinator

I love being a friendly face for our residents.  A day in their lives should be filled with the care they deserve and enriched with activities.  We embrace each and every moment and make memories, I have many skills and a passion to provide our residents with the social interactions, lots of activities, smiles, laughter and fun.

Cocktail evening

Our cocktail evenings are always popular, light music, great conversation and our favourite alcholic and non alcoholic tipples.

Arts and Crafts Club

We started to make our own dreamcatchers this week, choosing our own items to paint and when they are dry we can hang them up in the window.

Country Fair

The rain once again put pay to our outdoor Country themed fair but in true Parley style we carried on with the party inside.

We started the event with the Ferndown Strummers Ukulele band and enjoyed them so much we gave them their first encore!

Next we were treated to a line dancing display by the Starlight dancers who showed us all how is was done before the staff (and residents) performed our own line dance for everyone! Not quite like the pro's but we got a round of applause.

Finally to finish the show the wonderful Charlotte Geary sang us an array of country songs.

We enjoyed hot dogs and cakes, lovely stalls to browse and lots of fun and laughter was had.

Personal Trip out

Liz wanted a trip to the garden centre with a stop off at the cafe for coffee and cake, not a fan of the mini bus so Brian walked down to our local one and they enjoyed some time browsing.

Trip to the Quay

Christchurch Quay was the destination in the mini bus this week, we had an ice cream whilst watching the swans and cygnets next to the water.

Kerplunk!

A very competitive game that required a lot of concentration as shown on our residents faces!  Kerplunk is now the game of the moment here!
