Activities at Tewkesbury Fields Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Paula Lourenco

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Paula and I’m the Activities coordinator at Tewkesbury Fields care home. I’ve joined Barchester healthcare in 2020.

As part of the lifestyle enrichment team, I will be organising daily activities, ensuring that residents have varied activities to choose from each day. I love enriching our residents’ lives, creating memories and be able to provide meaningful activities to each one of the residents living at Tewkesbury fields.

Celebrating 200 years of Cadbury's chocolate

Staff and residents were treated to an afternoon of nostalgia and delicious memories when they were joined by Cadbury archivist Sarah Foden and Brand Manager Connor Gould for a talk from the nation’s favourite chocolate brand on a virtual event.

Sarah and Connor walked the Barchester residents through the story of the brand’s great success from the very first shop to how Cadbury is celebrating its 200th anniversary in 2024. They shared photos from down the years, examples of old packaging and ad campaigns from the Cadbury archive in Bournville.

The carefully selected archive material tells the story of an iconic British brand, this year celebrating its 200th anniversary, that has been part of people’s lives through generations, in moments big and small. The brand’s rich history evoked all kinds of nostalgic memories for the residents who all have their own Cadbury memories.

The staff and residents then opened Cadbury memory boxes where they sent us the Cadbury bars in their old packaging from 1915, 1940, 1961, 1980, 1993, 2003. it was really interesting see the changes in the design

Introducing our new residents Ambassadors

Meet Our Resident Ambassadors

Tewkesbury Fields would like to introduce you to our very new and wonderful new resident ambassadors, Jack, Ron and Ann.

What is a Resident Ambassador you ask?

Well the Resident Ambassador welcomes new residents and befriends them as they adjust to their new home.

Our Resident Ambassadors could also act as a tour guide around the home and invite other residents to the various activities throughout the week.

This morning, the team and residents gathered in the lounge and our General Manager Jade, presented the 3 residents with their brand new name badges and a little gift.

We could not be more proud of Jack, Ann and Ron.

Summer is here

It was certainly a week of gorgeous and warm weather.

Residents enjoyed spending time outdoors having an ice cream or a drink, a couple of outings in the minibus, including a trip to Staverton airport where we enjoyed watching the planes and reminiscing while having an ice cream at the Café.

During the week, we also continued to take daily walks, and staff encouraged residents to play outdoor floor games.

Ducklings Hatch In the Courtyard

We've had a fantastic surprise this week!

10 little ducklings  with their mum were spotted by staff and residents in one of our courtyards. They nest every year in one of the bushes - they must feel very safe and secure!

From indoors and without disturbing the new family, we got to watch them exploring the surroundings and enjoying the sunny morning.

They looked so cute.
