Activities at Cadbury Hall Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life. Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Halloween & Pumpkin Fun at Cadbury Hall
Autumn has been full of creativity, laughter, and spooktacular fun at Cadbury Hall!
Our residents have been showing off their amazing pumpkin carving skills — each one as unique as they are. Congratulations to Trefor, whose pumpkin was voted the best of the bunch! At Cadbury Hall, we may be a small boutique care home, but there’s nothing small about our talents, creativity, and love for life.
The Halloween celebrations continued all afternoon with games, a Film Club special, and a ghoulish playlist that had everyone dancing and singing along. Residents also enjoyed some fang-tastic themed treats — including our famous Blood & Organs Punch!
A huge thank you to our amazing kitchen team for the delicious food and creative Halloween touches — you really helped make the day extra special!

Coastal Adventures with Cadbury Hall
Summer by the Sea
Coastal Adventures with Cadbury Hall
At Cadbury Hall, we believe that fresh air, shared laughter, and new experiences are essential ingredients for wellbeing. This summer, we’ve embraced the spirit of seaside adventure with two delightful coastal outings—each one filled with sunshine, smiles, and special memories.
Portishead Marina – Serene Waters & Stunning Views
Our residents recently enjoyed a peaceful and scenic walk around Portishead Marina. With sunshine above and boats gently bobbing in the water, we took in the beautiful houses and vibrant waterfront atmosphere.
We timed our walk perfectly to see the boats coming in and out of the lock—an unexpected highlight that sparked lots of interest and conversation.
Susan, one of our residents, shared that she hadn’t visited Portishead in years. “It felt like being on holiday,” she said, taking in the view with a smile. The day left us feeling refreshed and reconnected—with each other and with nature.
Weston-super-Mare – Fish, Chips & Seagull Shenanigans!
A delayed departure turned into a happy accident on our trip to Weston-super-Mare when we found ourselves tucking into an impromptu fish and chips lunch by the beach.
As we walked along the promenade, our residents enjoyed the sight of children playing in the sand, dogs happily strolling by, and the lively buzz of the seafront.
There was even a bit of seaside drama as a few cheeky seagulls swooped in for a nibble—causing great laughter all around!
Susan once again shared how special it was to return to Weston after so long. “I never thought I’d get the chance to go back,” she said. “It brought back so many memories.”
💛 A Summer of Connection
Both trips reminded us that it’s the little moments that make the biggest memories—a walk in the sun, a shared laugh, or simply being near the sea.
We’re already planning more outings, with our next stop being Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm—and we can’t wait to share more stories from the road.
Diversity , Inclusion and Culture- China
China Week at Cadbury Hall
A Week of Culture, Cuisine & New Experiences
As part of our commitment to diversity and inclusion, this week we’ve been celebrating China Week — a vibrant journey through culture, tradition, and taste.
This afternoon, Phoebe, one of our wonderful carers, shared her cultural heritage and culinary skills by leading a hands-on dim sum making session with residents.
Dressed in beautiful traditional costume, Phoebe brought colour, energy, and authenticity to the activity — sparking laughter, learning, and meaningful connection.
Residents enjoyed shaping and preparing a variety of dim sum dishes, which our chef will be steaming and serving as part of a pre-supper taster. We can’t wait!
What is Dim Sum?
Dim sum (點心) refers to a variety of small, flavourful dishes traditionally served with tea in Chinese cuisine. The name means “touch the heart” — reflecting the original idea of small, delicate portions meant to satisfy and delight.
A Tradition of Tea & Togetherness
Traditionally enjoyed during yum cha (飲茶), meaning “drinking tea,” dim sum originated in the tea houses of Guangzhou (Canton) and Hong Kong. Over time, it evolved into a beloved weekend ritual — a time for family, conversation, and culinary indulgence.
Typical Dim Sum Dishes Include:
- Steamed dumplings – e.g. har gow (shrimp), siu mai (pork and prawn)
- Buns – e.g. char siu bao (BBQ pork)
- Spring rolls, turnip cakes, and rice noodle rolls
- Sweet treats – like custard tarts or sesame balls
A heartfelt thank you to Phoebe for her creativity, warmth, and inspiring contribution to China Week at Cadbury Hall.

🍕🎶🍷 Bellissimo moments all round!
Did You Know? 🍕 The Origins of Pizza
Pizza, as we know it today, first appeared in Naples, Italy, in the late 1700s. Originally a humble street food for working-class Neapolitans, it was simply flatbread topped with tomato, garlic, cheese, and basil.
One of the most famous varieties, the Margherita pizza, was created in 1889 to honour Queen Margherita of Savoy. Its colours — tomato (red), mozzarella (white), and basil (green) — represent the Italian flag.
From these modest beginnings, pizza has gone on to become one of the world’s favourite foods, enjoyed everywhere from Naples to New York.

Celebrating Together
What made the day truly special was the supportive atmosphere. Residents took great pride in not only showcasing their work but also encouraging and admiring each other’s creativity.
Family members, fellow residents, and staff all came together to celebrate the artistic achievements of our community, turning the exhibition into a warm and inspiring event.
We’re already looking forward to making this an annual tradition at Cadbury Hall.

Today is the Day!
The Yatton Carnival brought an exciting atmosphere to Cadbury Hall as our residents enjoyed the first VIP viewing of the vibrant parade set up. The theme for this year, "Yatton Traveling Around the World," resonated beautifully through the colourful displays and festive spirit.
As the parade passed, we welcomed the littles with cheerful greetings of "Bonjour!" and "Hola!", fostering a sense of community and connection among attendees. The Sunshine Community truly came together, celebrating diversity and creativity.
Our residents savoured refreshing Prosecco while basking in the warmth of the afternoon sun, making it a delightful experience.

Emergency Services Week at Cadbury Hall
This week, Cadbury Hall proudly celebrated our Blue Light Community Engagement programme with visits from two of our essential emergency services: Yatton Fire Station and the RNLI.
Yatton Fire & Rescue Visit
The team from Yatton Fire Station delivered an informative and engaging session on fire safety, giving residents a hands-on look at the fire engine, tools, and equipment. The morning sparked plenty of curiosity, with residents asking about emergency call-outs, training, and life as a firefighter.
A special highlight came when our very own Paul from Maintenance was invited to sound the siren—much to everyone’s delight!
The visit quickly turned into a spontaneous intergenerational moment, with local children joining residents to explore the fire truck and take part in the fun.
To round off a wonderful morning, Chef Jon baked a delicious lemon drizzle cake, which was lovingly packaged and sent back to the fire station for the crew’s afternoon tea.
RNLI Water Safety Talk
Later in the week, we welcomed Sally Benwell from the RNLI, who delivered a brilliant and interactive session on water safety. Using lifeguard uniforms, rescue flags, props, and video demonstrations, Sally brought the world of the RNLI to life.
Residents were fully engaged—asking questions, sharing seaside memories, and learning valuable tips for staying safe around water.
As an island nation, we are proud to support the RNLI, a service run almost entirely by volunteers who dedicate their time to saving lives at sea.
A huge thank you to both the Yatton Fire Station team and the RNLI for their warmth, time, and commitment to community education.
These visits brought generations together and highlighted the essential work our emergency services do to protect us all.
