Activities at Cadbury Hall Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life. Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

National Biscuit Day
To mark the celebration of the nation’s favourite biscuits, residents tucked into a variety of different options, which of course, were paired with a good old cup of tea. There was much fun to be had taking part in business tasting because we made our own twist of the day.
We celebrated National Biscuit Day in conjunction with Diversity, Inclusion and Culture whereby staff members brought in biscuits from their own countries for everyone to try! We had biscuits from Romania, the Caribbean, Poland, South African and of course Britain!
Happy World Cocktail Day
Friends and our residents had a wonderful time getting creative and making their very own cocktails! From fruity favourites to colourful mocktails, there were lots of smiles, laughter, and delicious drinks enjoyed by all.
We always enjoy a nice cool drink on a warm day!
Activities like these are a lovely way to bring everyone together, spark memories, and have some fun trying something new. Cheers to a fantastic afternoon!
VE Day
Our Head of Maintenance, Matt, hosted a wonderful 81st VE Day lunch for our residents, and visitors from the local community. The meal was prepared by our talented Head Chef, Paul.
Everyone enjoyed a delicious meal together along with drinks, laughter, and heartfelt conversations as we reminisced about wartime memories and experiences. Many of our residents were around 5 years old when the war began, making the stories and reflections shared today incredibly special and meaningful. Anne shared that she remembers, she was 5 years old when the war broke out and her father held her by the shoulders to break the news to her. She said it’s a day and moment she’ll never forget.

International Firefighter's Day
We had such a great visit from the firefighters on firefighters' day on the 4th May!
This day is dedicated to honouring the sacrifices and dedication of firefighters. It’s been great having the visit – we thank you for your courage and commitment to protecting our communities and the environment. Residents and staff enjoyed your visit to our home.
Sip& Paint Event
We recently welcomed residents and members of the local community to its very first Sip & Paint event, marking a vibrant addition to its life enrichment programme. Residents embraced the opportunity to try something new, while guests enjoyed the chance to connect with others in a welcoming environment.
Participants were encouraged to choose their own subject and express themselves through art, resulting in a wonderful variety of unique and colourful paintings. The session created a warm and inclusive atmosphere, with laughter, conversation and creativity flowing throughout.
It was wonderful to see our residents and members of the community coming together, sharing stories and expressing themselves creatively. Activities like this are so important in supporting wellbeing and building connections and we’re already looking forward to hosting many more in the future.
Sunshine, smiles and special memories
We’ve been making the very most of the recent sunshine, enjoying a variety of activities that have brought joy, laughter, and plenty of opportunities to spend time together outdoors.
Our residents have loved visits to the beach, taking in the fresh sea air and beautiful surroundings, while back at the home we’ve enjoyed our very own BBQ on the patio, sharing delicious food, great conversation, and lots of smiles.
As the sun moved around the day, our residents made full use of the garden, relaxing in the warmth, catching up, and enjoying the peaceful outdoor space. To help keep everyone cool, we’ve also been treating ourselves to plenty of ice cream and ice lollies – a firm favourite on these warmer days!
Moments like these remind us how important it is to embrace every opportunity to get outdoors, stay active, and create meaningful memories together. It has been wonderful to see our residents enjoying the sunshine, each other’s company, and everything that summer has to offer.
Here’s to many more sunny days, shared experiences, and happy memories.
International museum day
Our residents enjoyed a fantastic full day out with a minibus trip to Oakham Treasures, and what a wonderful day it was!
Residents spent time exploring the fascinating collections of vintage treasures, classic memorabilia, historic displays, and nostalgic items that sparked so many lovely conversations and happy memories. There was plenty to see, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed taking a trip down memory lane together.
The day also included a lovely lunch out, giving everyone the chance to relax, chat, and enjoy each other’s company outside the home. From start to finish, the outing was filled with smiles, laughter, and special moments shared together.
Days like these are so important for creating meaningful experiences, encouraging social connection, and making lasting memories for our residents. Thank you to all our wonderful staff who helped make the day so enjoyable!
Portishead trip
Our residents enjoyed a wonderful outing to the beautiful Portishead marina yesterday, spending time by the water and taking in the peaceful surroundings.
The visit provided a valuable opportunity for relaxation, conversation, and shared experiences, with residents enjoying the fresh air, beautiful views, and the chance to reminisce and connect with one another. We also enjoyed a hot drink at the local café.
A day of smoothies
Let’s talk about hydration for the elderly in the warm weather months!
Staying hydrated is essential at every age, but it becomes especially important as we get older. At Cadbury, we’re committed to supporting our residents to stay healthy and comfortable every day.
Dehydration can sometimes be harder to notice in older adults, so we take a proactive approach — offering regular drinks throughout the day, providing a variety of options our residents enjoy, and gently encouraging everyone to keep sipping.
From making different flavours of smoothies, to refreshing fruit-infused water, to warm cups of tea and nutritious drinks at mealtimes, we make hydration both accessible and enjoyable. Our team also keeps a close eye on individual needs, ensuring each resident receives the right level of support.
It’s the little things that make a big difference — and something as simple as a drink can help boost energy, support wellbeing, and keep our residents feeling their best. Because great care is in the details.
Flower Arrangment Session
What a wonderful afternoon we had yesterday at our first Community Flower Arranging session!
Our residents came together and got creative with ladies from our local community to create some truly beautiful floral displays, sharing creativity, laughter, and plenty of smiles along the way. The room was filled with colour, conversation and a lovely sense of togetherness.
Lesley Heeney, our lovely family volunteer, lead the session with ease - she is ever so creative!
A huge thank you to everyone who took part and helped make the session such a success – your enthusiasm and talent really shone through!
We’re already looking forward to the next one!
Impromptu beach visit
What a wonderful impromptu day out we had this week!
Our residents enjoyed a lovely minibus trip to Weston-super-Mare beach, where we made the most of the seaside sunshine and all the tasty treats that come with it!
We tucked into whippy ice creams, hot dogs, scampi and chips, and freshly made donuts that were sugary, warm, and absolutely delicious!
Most importantly, the day was filled with smiles, laughter, and lovely conversations. We made new friends along the way and spent time reminiscing about childhood memories of visiting the beach, riding donkeys, and enjoying family seaside trips years ago.
Days like these create such special memories and remind us how important friendship, fresh air, and a little spontaneity can be! We throughout had a great, feel good, relaxing time on the beach chatting and people watching!
Happy World Bee Day from all the busy bees at Cadbury Hall!
Yesterday we had a truly bee-autiful experience as we welcomed some live bees to our home and got the chance to see natural honey up close! Everyone loved learning more about these amazing little pollinators and there was lots of excitement. These incredible little pollinators play a huge role in keeping our gardens blooming and our food growing.
Many thanks to Tony from Beekeepers North Somerset, who shared his knowledge, experiences and stories with us – even though our General Manager took bee-line from the bees.
A huge thank you to everyone who helped make today so special — it was certainly the sweetest World Bee Day yet!

Community engagement
On Sunday, we had the pleasure of supporting Yeo Valley Lions Club Yeo Valley Lions with their sponsored walk at the Strawberry Line!
Our talented chef made homemade flapjacks for the event to support with refuelling! We made 3 flavours - sultana, plain and chocolate!
Hot chocolate on a rainy day
Home feels like hot chocolate, with marshmallows and cream in the comfort of our living room on a dark, rainy day.
No two days are the same here at Cadbury Hall!
Baking Bonanza!
We recently decided to try making traditional Welsh cakes and what a wonderful experience it turned out to be! In celebration of St David’s Day, our residents came together for a joyful baking session filled with laughter, teamwork and delicious aromas drifting through the dining room. Everyone got involved, from mixing the ingredients to rolling the dough and cooking the cakes to perfection. It was truly heart-warming to see such enthusiasm and collaboration.
The highlight of the day was watching the smiles of pride on our residents’ faces as they tasted their freshly made Welsh cakes. Moments like these are incredibly special, bringing back cherished memories, encouraging conversation and creating new shared experiences. We are so proud of our talented bakers and the sense of community they continue to build together.
