Activities at Hyacinth House Care Home
Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Anna Wasiak
I am a friendly and enthusiastic Activity Coordinator with a passion for working with people and making a positive impact in their lives. I joined Hyacinth House in 2024 as a carer and excited to now be the Activities Coordinator. I have eight years experience in hospitality and three years in floristry. I bring creativity, strong interpersonal skills and a warm welcoming approach to my role. My background has given me the ability to connect with individuals, organise engaging activities, and create meaningful experiences that brighten people’s days. I love inspiring others, fostering a sense of community and bringing joy through thoughtful and inclusive activities.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Hyacinth House Care Home

We had a truly wonderful night at Hyacinth House event.
Our Cheese and Wine social evening for our residents, relatives and community was a delightful success.
We offered a selection of carefully chosen wines that paired perfectly with our charcuterie boards. Guest's savoured an array of cheeses including Ashcombe (England's answer to Morbier), Dorset Truffler, Red Storm and Dorset Coastal. Mark Busell entertained us all with his beautiful piano music, earning a big applause from everyone! We look forward to his return.
We were absolutely thrilled with the turnout! Thank you to everyone who joined us for such a lovely evening. Here's to many more gatherings!

Introducing the ‘Hyacinth’s Sweet Treat Repeat!’ Sundae
After multiple tries and tasting, our residents have created their favourite Ice Cream Sundae.
A sundae with multiple layers of different fruits, vanilla ice cream, homemade sponge, chocolate flake, fresh cherries and whipped cream.
Vanilla sponge at the bottom, frozen raspberries, sliced peaches, followed by a layer of ice cream and dried raspberries, fruit cocktail, more ice cream with sliced fresh cherries topped with mini raspberry meringues, a squirt of cream, crumbled chocolate flakes, wafer, flake and lastly a cherry on top!
Each resident created their version of the sundae and added more of their favourite layer, a versatile recipe to cover everyone’s taste.
Enjoy, because we did!

Back to our Roots
Life with us is about encouraging and embracing all of our residents' hobbies and interests, we are fascinated to hear about their lives prior to moving in with us.
We're thrilled to share a special moment with Eveline, our very first resident, getting to know her since she moved in has been an absolute pleasure.
Eveline spent over 30 years as a hairdresser and owned her own salon before moving to Poole and opening her own Bed & Breakfast.
It's been nearly 40 years since she last did hairdressing, however, the other day she asked Sadie if she could wash and blow-dry her hair, just to see if she could still do it.
Sadie was thrilled to have such a pro do her hair and was impressed with how it all came flooding back to Eveline.

Quay Crabbing
Our wonderful residents decided to take a trip down Memory Lane, especially Arthur who has cherished memories of Mudeford, one of his favourite spots in the South.
Coming from Wales, he used to travel there with his children and later with his grandchildren, they'd spend leisurely days crabbing, enjoying meals out of seafood and of course delicious ice creams.
Yesterday, we revisited Mudeford and Arthur got to relive an experience he hadn’t had in years.
Though the crabs were elusive at first, we managed to catch three playfully named Charles, Camilla, and William.

Cooking up a treat on a rainy summer's afternoon.
On a wet summer's day what best than the staff and residents turning up the heat in the kitchen, baking delicious Belgian buns.
Sharing their expert tips and guidance whilst they were baking, we ended up with perfect buns filled with fruity goodness, topped with icing and a juicy cherry.
Everyone got to enjoy these delightful treats during morning tea, and the flavour impressed everyone!
