Activities at Hyacinth House Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Tammy Carpenter

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Tammy, I am the Activities coordinator. I joined Hyacinth House as one of the Night Seniors, I am so happy and proud to be part of the Hyacinth team.  All my colleagues are so passionate about our journey together and what we are doing, we all share the Barchester values and keep them at the forefront of our minds.

My journey into the Care Sector started more than 6 years ago, initially working as Agency to see if I was the right fit for care work. I instantly fell in love with all aspects of care and getting the chance to work in difference places, gaining experience and knowledge, working and caring for a variety of people in their homes and in a residential/dementia care setting.  I've learnt so much and I completed my NVQ Level 3  and continue to pursue further qualifications.

I enjoy getting to know our residents, learning about them as an individual; their likes, dislikes, and their lives outside the home.  I am very passionate about improving the lives of those I support and the importance of continuing their interests.

In my personal life I am very active, with family life and with two Cocker Spaniels, there is never a dull moment. With a passion for adventure and hiking, with water sports thrown in and always up for trying something new.  Also a keen photographer, I enjoy getting my camera out to capture moments.

I look forward to welcoming you at Hyacinth, and capturing the moments we create together.

Sally, Keith & Team at local florist Carnival Flowers! See their website https://www.carnivalflowers.co.uk/ You understood our vision on how we wanted to decorate the home for our VIP Open Day and your stunning arrangements nailed it! Beautiful button holes for staff and the recipients of the bouquet gifts were thrilled too. The displays were then donated to our sister homes after the event for their residents to admire. A BIG thank you to our neighbours and community

We at Hyacinth House wanted to express our gratitude to our neighbours and the community for their support during the extensive refurbishment at Hyacinth House. The Team decided on a Cheese & Wine evening and all were invited.

The Chefs served impressive Charcuterie trays piled high with a selection of cheeses, cured meats, crackers, chutneys and more, with a variety of wines to sample, which were enjoyed by all.

Our evening also featured the talents of Nigel Revill, local guitarist and singer. He performed a range of classic hits including Hotel California (The Eagles), Everyday (Buddy Holly), which many of the guests sang along to.  Nigel said  “I had some lovely comments from the guests about the music and your beautiful care home. It's hard to recognise the old home compared to what you now have - absolutely glorious.”

Many more wonderful comments and feedback was received today from our guests one said “Thank you and your team very much for your kind hospitality last night.  You all made us feel very welcome and gave us an insight into the excellent facilities and happy atmosphere future residents may enjoy”

Another wrote “I would like to thank you all, for the very warm welcome you all gave us and the refreshments, which we very much enjoyed! The home is spectacular, warm, homely, very tastefully decorated and I am sure your residents will be very happy there.

Kamila Gagala, General Manager at the home, said: “Staff at Hyacinth House are dedicated to making sure that the home is a hub of the local community, this event was to welcome them back in to show our appreciation for their support, we had a lovely evening meeting them all and were proud to show off our fabulous new home."

The countdown is on....

The countdown is on until we officially open on the 25th August and welcome our first residents, to our beautiful home.

Lots of behind-the-scenes preparations are in full swing as we draw closer to this special Day.

We are open to visitors now to come and have a sneak peek, feel the warm and welcoming atmosphere of our home and meet the Team. Feel free to drop by and see all the wonderful things happening at Hyacinth House and enjoy a refreshing cup of tea or coffee, with a delicious slice of freshly baked cake!
