Activities at Mallard Court Care Home
We provide a wide range of group activities and individual one to one activities to meet our residents needs including musical entertainers, PAT dog visits, minibus outings, themed events and much more!
We take a person centred approach when planning each individuals activities so they can achieve a feeling of self worth and well-being.
We hold monthly meetings with the residents and also regular meetings with their family and friends, discussing any ideas that they may have, and also any problems that their may have. Both of our activities coordinators, Steve and Lynne, have completed NAPA Activity Workers Level 2 Award training, and are continually seeking new ideas so we can ensure life in the home is as varied and interesting as possible. We encourage strong community links with the local schools, colleges and local charities in the community. Steve is supported also by his dogs, Tia, Pebbles and Oscar who give great pleasure to the residents in our home, and can often be seen either on a persons lap or being taken for a walk around the home. Many of the visitors that come into Mallard Court commented that it is so friendly and welcoming.
Steve Moss
Hi, my name is Steve, and I have been a Lifestyle Coordinator at Mallard Court since 2006, and have achieved the NAPA (National Association of Activity Providers) Level 2 Award in Activity Provision in the Care Sector.
We provide a wide range of activities for the people we support, as well as for their families and friends. I also love to have one-to-one chats with residents who like to reminisce about their lives over a cup of tea and some biscuits.
We have our own minibus and have fun days out sight-seeing, having a picnic or going a local pub for a drink and a meal. We also arrange for local artists to provide musical entertainment for everyone at Mallard Court.

Life at Mallard Court Care Home
World Jugglers Day
Mallard Court care Home celebrated World Jugglers day on Saturday 15th June and had so much fun finding out about the history and origins of this ancient art and having a go ourselves!
Juggling day was established by the International Jugglers Association and is dedicated to preserving and spreading the history of the art of juggling. The first evidence of Juggling as an art form was located on the wall of a tomb in Egypt, depicting a group of women dancing and performing with at least 3 balls.
We have never laughed as much having a go with some residents and staff having some serious juggling skills of a kind and we also did a bit of Hoola Hooping!
Waggy tails at Mallard Court
Tia the Labrador came to visit today and she is lovely gentle girl and our residents love her so much. There were lots of smiles and laughter around the home as Tia enjoyed lots of snuggles and attention. Tia had a waggy tail the whole day and the smiles she created are worth their weight in gold! Residents here at Mallard Court enjoy their regular pet therapy sessions as conversations flow as they share stories of their favourite pets over the years.
Euro 2020 ready!
We are enjoying the UEFA EURO 2020 football competition on our 60” Smart TV cheering on England, Wales & Scotland. Drinks, nibbles and sweets are on hand as we cheer on our favourite team!
Flower power
We enjoyed an afternoon of flower arranging here at Mallard Court with our residents creating their own floral arrangements, choosing their own flowers and colours and produced some truly beautiful designs!
Flower arranging is one of our most popular activities and is a weekly event here at Mallard, our residents thoroughly enjoy the whole process, from deciding which flowers they would like to use to how they place them in their design, often chatting to each other and swapping ideas.
Father's Day
We at Mallard Court marked Father’s Day in style with a special lunch in honour of all fathers.
Some of our residents met their loved ones in the garden, others enjoyed video calls with their family and friends, and we all took part in various activities, such as writing letters and cards, and playing themed games and quizzes.
Our residents spent time reminiscing about their earlier lives and talking about their fathers.
Birthday celebrations
We celebrated and shared a very special occasion with our lovely resident Brenda on her 86th Birthday. Brenda was thrilled to receive the most amazingly crafted cake from her family along with beautiful gifts and cards too, and spent a lovely time with her family in the afternoon. Happy Birthday Brenda
