Activities at Moors Manor Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Jo Henderson

Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Jo Henderson and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Moors Manor.

I am looking forward to bringing my creative side to the home as I was previously a florist and baker and look forward to us making lots of lovely treats for us all to enjoy.

When at home Jo is a mother to two wonderful daughters and also a pet mum to labrador Marley.

I cannot wait to welcome our residents into their wonderful new home and help to bring smiles, joy and laughter to each day.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Bingo at Moors

This weeks Bingo was very competitive and Bibesh had to work hard to keep the group on top of the challenge. This interactive game is enjoyed by so many of our residents and the prizes of chocolates always go down a treat!

Employee of the month for May 2023

A huge congratulations to Bibesh, our Activities Coordinator for winning Employee of the month (May). Bibesh has only been with us for a few months and has made a huge impact on the lives of our residents already. He recently did the impossible and found the very car that resident Lloyd had owned some 40 years previously. They were reunited and it was an amazing day that meant the world to Lloyd. Thank you so much for being enthusiastic, caring and brilliant.

West Moors Community Cafe

Our community cafe is growing in West Moors and each time I go we make new friends. Everyone has a few laughs and the cake is always central to our conversation. Support in the community is essential for our wellbeing and it is a joy to take part in.

Networking breakfast at Moors Manor

A great networking breakfast in the sunshine this morning at Moors Manor. We are making some good friends and contacts supporting each other with a variety of events.

Lloyd is reunited with his old car Clara

Resident Lloyd was reunited with his beloved car Clara which he owned in 1958 and completely renovated from scratch. It took months of research before Bibesh, our Activities coordinator pinned down the owner Avril who currently resides in Kent. Avril and her husband put the car on the back of a trailer and drove 170 miles so that Lloyd could take a ride in her one more time!

Our sponsored cycle raised £420 for Dementia Action Group

Staff and residents at the home got stuck in to help raise funds for this very important cause, Dementia Action Group. Our static cycle began at 5.00am and staff members, relatives, and local professional Olivia Singer, from Lester Aldridge Solicitors all took turns to cycle the 88 miles to London. Residents also joined in using the seated pedals and achieved a fair few miles between them. Moors Manor actually smashed their target and cycled 107 miles in total. Moors Manor care home raised a grand total of £420.00 by completing the challenge, which was presented to Lynne Morris from Dementia Action Group in the form of a large cheque. Lynne said “Dementia Action Group are absolutely thrilled and very grateful for the funds so desperately needed within the local community”.
