Activities at Moors Manor Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Jo Henderson

Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Jo Henderson and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Moors Manor.

I am looking forward to bringing my creative side to the home as I was previously a florist and baker and look forward to us making lots of lovely treats for us all to enjoy.

When at home Jo is a mother to two wonderful daughters and also a pet mum to labrador Marley.

I cannot wait to welcome our residents into their wonderful new home and help to bring smiles, joy and laughter to each day.

Wine Tasting

Our residents had the opportunity to try a variety of wines, from sparkling and white to rose and red, with a virtual event talking about the wines, their history and tasting techniques. It was a wonderful experience, enjoyed by all.

,

Roald Dahl Day

The team at Moors Manor celebrated some of the most cherished and well known Roald Dahl stories. Staff at the home took part in the day by dressing up in their favourite Roald Dahl character costumes.

Josephine judged the competition and voted Sarah as Witch number 1 the residents favourite.  The team chose Miss Honey and Matilda as their favourite, with Mrs Bucket a close second.

Joan, resident at Moors Manor, said, “All the staff in their costumes really made me laugh today and brightened up my Monday morning."

National Dog Day!

Staff and residents got up close and personal with some furry friends when they celebrated all the wonderful things about man’s best friend on National Dog Day.

Residents had a brilliant time with the dogs from Caring Canines in our lovely garden.

One resident commented, "We have had such a nice day watching the dogs do their show and getting to stroke them and see them up close. They are all such characters!"

,

High Tea at Moors Manor!

To celebrate National Cream Tea day, Moors Manor brought out the finish local jam's and cream's to adorn our freshly baked scones, courtesy of our hospitality team.

Our resident's dolloped on the fruity jam, and enjoyed lashings of fresh clotted cream in our beautiful gardens, under the warm afternoon sun!

Chocolate Heaven at Moors Manor!

Perhaps our favourite day of the year, Moors Manor was pleased to be celebrating World Chocolate Day on Wednesday 7th July. We had a little something for everyone at our home, indulging ourselves in all kinds of luxurious chocolates, as well as the family favourite chocolate bars!

Our Activity Coordinator, Suzanne, ran a chocolate tasting afternoon, with each of our residents and team members nibbling all sorts of chocolates, and placing their bets on what they were – Cadbury’s seemed to be universally recognisable by all!

Even our little guests couldn’t keep their hands off the double chocolate cupcakes! Next year’s World Chocolate Day can’t come soon enough...

Minibus Trips

Staff and residents were celebrating being able to go on short excursions again as lockdown restrictions ease across the country. Residents are now able to go on a short trip to outdoor spaces without having to isolate on their return.

Residents enjoyed enjoy a walk along the beach, having an ice cream, taking in the lovely views, and eating some fish and chips.
