Activities at Mulberry Court Care Home

The team at Mulberry Court works hard to support and encourage residents to participate in both group and individual activities, based around their preferences and lifestyle choices. We take time to get to know each person, sitting with them and listening to them speak about their lives, interests, and aspirations. We have access to our own minibus so outings to nearby places of interest are available; for example local museums, art galleries, garden centres, and public houses. We also host themed evenings, such as 'Quiz and Meal-in-a-Basket', 'The Races (Greyhounds, Horses)', and 'Takeaway and Movie Night' that we also encourage relatives to come to. We believe lifestyle choices and activities are one of the most important aspects of a care home, and it is essential that we help residents to have fulfilling and enjoyable lives.

Zoe Giles

Lead Activities Co-ordinator

Hi my name is Zoe I am the lead activities co-ordinator here at Mulberry Court, I started in January 2024 having previously worked at another care home on reception, however I  started doing more and more activities with the resident’s there so when I got the chance to move across to a Barchester home and do the role of lead I took the opportunity.

I have always enjoyed organising and am usually the one in the family who brings everyone together and sorts things so I feel I have found my true calling!

I am so lucky to be able to say I love my job, no two days are ever the same, although every day is so rewarding and to know I have made a difference to someone is the greatest feeling whether that’s through a group activity or an individual room visit to even stopping and saying a few words to them.

Life at Mulberry Court Care Home

Flowers in the garden

No better place to have a flower arranging afternoon than in our beautiful gardens here at Mulberry Court so that's exactly what we did! Residents took their beautiful arrangements back to their rooms to enjoy for days to come.

Happy Anniversary Richard and Barbara!

It was a big Happy Anniversary to our resident Richard and his lovely wife Barbara!  Richard and Barbara celebrated 48 years of happy marriage with us so we decided to spoil them!  Our Head Chef Steve Hill baked them a gorgeous cake and there were flowers, plants and chocolates along with a card signed by us all!

A fond farewell

After 3 years of continuous service at Mulberry Court in York, much-loved Head of Maintenance, Kevin Goodger has decided to retire.  Staff and residents at the home sent Kevin off in style with presents to thank him for many years of dedication.  Everyone at the home has very fond memories of Kevin and he will be sadly missed.

During his time at Mulberry Court, Kevin has always gone the extra mile to help anyone who needed him.  No matter how busy Kevin was he always made a little extra time to talk residents and make their rooms personal.

International Cat Day

Residents had a lovely day as our little feline friend Jasper came for a visit  Jasper is real VIP on International Cat Day as he is spoilt by everyone and loves all the attention.  Everyone gets a chance to have a cuddle with him as he does his lap of honour around the home finding willing laps to curl up on.

Herstory of Mayfair

‘Herstory’ of Mayfair

Residents across our services had a fantastic time joining Mandy Morrow for a virtual walking tour to learn about the ‘Herstory’ of Mayfair. The Mayfair of Nightingales may be long gone but it still holds a 20th century charm. Birthplace to the late Queen Elizabeth II, home to one of WWII's most decorated female war heroes and a tale of a wealthy Aristocrat and one of France's favourite designers.

We were delighted to take a walk down memory lane and discover stories from one of London's most iconic areas.  The experience was truly enjoyed by all.

A trip to the local park

We have been taking our residents for a short walk to our beautiful local park while the weather is good.  Just a 15 minute walk up the road and we are there.  We enjoy a tour around the ornamental garden and pond and  take a look at the Coronation sculptures and beautiful flowers.  With a little picnic on board it’s a lovely morning trip out for our residents.
