Activities at Mulberry Court Care Home
The team at Mulberry Court works hard to support and encourage residents to participate in both group and individual activities, based around their preferences and lifestyle choices. We take time to get to know each person, sitting with them and listening to them speak about their lives, interests, and aspirations. We have access to our own minibus so outings to nearby places of interest are available; for example local museums, art galleries, garden centres, and public houses. We also host themed evenings, such as 'Quiz and Meal-in-a-Basket', 'The Races (Greyhounds, Horses)', and 'Takeaway and Movie Night' that we also encourage relatives to come to. We believe lifestyle choices and activities are one of the most important aspects of a care home, and it is essential that we help residents to have fulfilling and enjoyable lives.
Zoe Giles
Hi my name is Zoe I am the lead activities co-ordinator here at Mulberry Court, I started in January 2024 having previously worked at another care home on reception, however I started doing more and more activities with the resident’s there so when I got the chance to move across to a Barchester home and do the role of lead I took the opportunity.
I have always enjoyed organising and am usually the one in the family who brings everyone together and sorts things so I feel I have found my true calling!
I am so lucky to be able to say I love my job, no two days are ever the same, although every day is so rewarding and to know I have made a difference to someone is the greatest feeling whether that’s through a group activity or an individual room visit to even stopping and saying a few words to them.

Life at Mulberry Court Care Home
Watercolour masterclass
Another lovely afternoon for residents at Mulberry Court as we sketched and then finished with watercolour painting, a little 1950’s background music set the perfect atmosphere for producing masterpieces.
Gardening club
The long awaited Gardening Club started this week at Mulberry Court with very enthusiastic members displaying their wisdom and experience of gardening to the group!
The spring bulbs all planted in brightly painted pots, now out in the garden, next weeks winter hanging baskets, let our green fingered residents do their magic!!
Home celebrate 20-years service
A surprise celebration this week for our Senior Carer Angela Horrocks. For the last 20 years Angela has worked tirelessly with dedication and incredible compassion for all her residents. A true team member with a heart of gold, Angela is loved by all her residents who came along and kept the surprise going and joined in thanking her with all her colleagues for all her hard work.
Residents enjoy a virtual reading and writing event
We had a great time joining journalist and novelist, Mike Gayle, for an intriguing virtual interview, during which he shared top tips for creative writing with our residents and read passages from his latest book, All the Lonely People.
We were thrilled to find out about Mike’s background, to understand what led him to become a writer and his creative process.
It was a lovely talk, enjoyed by all, especially by our keen writers at the home.
World's Biggest Coffee Morning
In recognition of Macmillan’s Coffee Morning, we hosted our very own garden event for friends, families and community members to raise £250 for the charity.
The garden was specially decorated for the occasion, our talented chef prepared a variety of cakes, cupcakes and delicious treats following Macmillan Cancer Support’s recipes and we all got involved in fun-filled games.
We all had a wonderful day raising funds for this lovely cause.
Residents enjoy a Virtual Cruise Experience
We had a lovely time joining Paul Hawkins and Lisa Richards from Unilever for an exciting Virtual Cruise experience.
Our residents were welcomed with mocktails as Lisa and Paul took them on a magical journey to 3 mystery destinations, which were uncovered after a few clues.
Paul demonstrated how to create a few of the local traditional dishes, which our residents had the opportunity to try too.
The event evoked lots of great memories and it was truly enjoyed by all.
