Activities at Mulberry Court Care Home

The team at Mulberry Court works hard to support and encourage residents to participate in both group and individual activities, based around their preferences and lifestyle choices. We take time to get to know each person, sitting with them and listening to them speak about their lives, interests, and aspirations. We have access to our own minibus so outings to nearby places of interest are available; for example local museums, art galleries, garden centres, and public houses. We also host themed evenings, such as 'Quiz and Meal-in-a-Basket', 'The Races (Greyhounds, Horses)', and 'Takeaway and Movie Night' that we also encourage relatives to come to. We believe lifestyle choices and activities are one of the most important aspects of a care home, and it is essential that we help residents to have fulfilling and enjoyable lives.

Zoe Giles

Lead Activities Co-ordinator

Hi my name is Zoe I am the lead activities co-ordinator here at Mulberry Court, I started in January 2024 having previously worked at another care home on reception, however I  started doing more and more activities with the resident’s there so when I got the chance to move across to a Barchester home and do the role of lead I took the opportunity.

I have always enjoyed organising and am usually the one in the family who brings everyone together and sorts things so I feel I have found my true calling!

I am so lucky to be able to say I love my job, no two days are ever the same, although every day is so rewarding and to know I have made a difference to someone is the greatest feeling whether that’s through a group activity or an individual room visit to even stopping and saying a few words to them.

Life at Mulberry Court Care Home

International Women's Day

Today we celebrated our female residents by putting on a couple of their favourite activities, pampering hand massages, nail polish and file sessions in their rooms followed by a knit and natter afternoon which showcased not only their knitting skills but needlework too.

We've also had two great young ladies on work experience helping us the last couple of weeks who have been a huge help to both the kitchen/hospitality team and activities.

Mother's Day

Today we made sure all our lovely ladies received a handmade gift on behalf of all the staff here at Mulberry Court Care Home - Barchester Healthcare ....scented lavender bags and some hand cream.

We also had a visit from Derek who regularly holds Holy communion for us.

London Ladies

As part of our International Women’s Day celebrations, Residents from across our services were thrilled to join tour guide, Mandy Morrow, for an exciting talk about some Legendary London Ladies.

Mandy shared the fascinating stories of eight ladies with us, from the one of the richest heiresses in the world to the original 'Roaring Girl'.

Everyone who participated truly enjoyed the experience and were delighted to take a walk down memory lane.

Bingo Bonanza

Across the country our homes and hospitals came together to find out which care home or hospital had the best Bingo players as they teamed up for Barchester’s Bingo Bonanza.

Residents were treated to some exciting virtual games of Bingo as part of Barchester’ very own game show series.

Everyone who participated had a fantastic time and enjoyed some friendly competition.

Century celebrations

Celebrations have been in full swing at Mulberry Court as one of its residents reaches her centenary in style.  Dorothy was joined by staff, relatives, friends and other residents as she received a telegram from the King in recognition of her landmark birthday. A champagne reception was held at the home and guests enjoyed a special birthday cake made by the home’s Chef and hospitality team.

The birthday girl, Dorothy said: “I don’t feel like I’m 100 and I am thankful to have got here, and have such a beautiful family and some very dear friends”.

Delight as Resident Participates

At Mulberry Court we provide care services for our residents needing support and the availability of qualified nurses 24 hours a day.

It is important to everyone at Mulberry Court to support residents to maintain as much independence as possible.

Care plans are designed in consultation with the resident and their family, recognising that each resident has their own individual needs and tailored personal requirements.

It’s such a delight when a care plan results in one of our residents sitting in a chair for the first time in ages and experiencing new frontiers, including participation in a group activity.

What a beautiful smile!
