Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!
Roni Paynter
Hi, My name is Roni and I am the Lead Activities coordinator here at Oak Grange, the wellbeing and happiness of each resident are at the forefront of everything we do, and I am committed to upholding these values as your activities coordinator.
Having worked in various care settings and possessing a passion for enhancing the lives of older adults. I bring a wealth of experience and creativity to the role. My primary objective is to create a vibrant and engaging activities programme that caters to the unique interests, abilities and preferences of each resident.
Together, we will embark on a journey of discovery, enjoyment and companionship. From engaging social events and group outings to stimulating cognitive exercises and creative pursuits, our goal is to ensure that there is always something for everyone to look forward to. Furthermore, I am here not only as an Activities coordinator but also as a friend and confidant, I encourage open communication, suggestions, and feedback from each resident and their families.

Life at Oak Grange Care Home
Remember, Remember the 5th of November
Staff and residents at Oak Grange celebrated Bonfire Night with a bang this November 5th when they wrapped up warm to gather together to watch a fantastic firework display and enjoy lots of seasonal treats washed down with some premium hot chocolate.
Mary, a residents said: “I have always loved Bonfire Night, it’s so lovely to celebrate these traditions all together. The fireworks bring back so many memories of bonfire Nights through the years, these times are so special”.
Poppy appeal
Oak Grange is very proud to say that we have a whole home team approach when it comes to activities. Julie Boote, Residential care manager has been working hard alongside residents to create a poppy display in one of the homes communities in time for the home to remember all of our armed forces who fought so bravely for us. Poppies were also made by relatives and we would like to thank everyone for their involvement.
Coffee at Chester Zoo
Residents at Oak Grange jumped aboard the homes mini bus to meet the elephants at Chester Zoo and enjoy a scrumptious brownie washed down with a hot coffee.
Studies show that “regular meetings can help to improve people’s overall health and wellbeing. It can also help to reduce social isolation and bring people together in the local community.” The homes activities team aim to incorporate a weekly trip out on the homes mini-bus.
Everybody have a lovely time, and we were glad for the change of scenery and the short journey through the country lanes.
Blooming Haus
We were delighted to join Blooming Haus’s Christmas Wreath Making Masterclass, where Master Florist, Michal and his business partner - Michael showed us the best method to create beautiful festive wreaths.
Following the tips and ideas learnt during the amazing virtual experience, we were happy to put our skills to a test and to enter the #BarchesterChristmasWreaths competition.
We all had a wonderful time creating our festive wreath/s.
Thank you @bloominghaus for helping our residents flow into the true spirit of Noel.
Italian day
Residents at Oak Grange were treated to an amazing interpretation of John Hughes the ‘singing farmer’ along with a selection of delicious foods including pizza, wine and much more!
Music played an important feature of our themed Italian day to mark ‘World Pasta’ day, we celebrated in style! Residents helped with the making, decorating and of course tasting a variety of Italian flavours.
English National Ballet
We celebrated Remembrance Day with English National Ballet Associate Dance Artist, Richard Bermange, who led a creative dance workshop for our residents followed by a special extract of Akram Khan’s work Dust, premiered in 2014 as part of ENB’s Lest We Forget programme, commemorating the First World War.
ENB company dancers, Erina Takahashi and James Streeter performed the extract and provided some insight into this moving work.
Our residents had a wonderful time as they listened, danced and were able to singalong to famous war time music performed by ENB Associate Musician, Matt Hartley-Stevens.
