Activities at Oak Grange Care Home
Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Life at Oak Grange Care Home
Residents enjoy virtual trips to the ballet
Staff and residents at Barchester’s Oak Grange care home in Mollington were given an early Christmas present from English National Ballet who hosted not one but three unique interactive online sessions just for them.
Knowing that they wouldn’t be able to make any trips to the theatre this Christmas, English National Ballet's Engagement Team came up with the idea of hosting three separate sessions for care home residents inspired by Nutcracker. In the first session, Dance Artist, Laura Harvey, led a dance workshop drawing on the magic of Christmas Eve and First Soloist, James Streeter, recounted his experience of dancing the Mouse King in the Battle scene. During an interactive Q&A session residents posed questions to James about his life as a ballet dancer.
National Jumper Day
Today residents enjoyed a variety of activities and resident-centred care activities tailored to their needs, such as dancing, sensory therapy, mince pies and mulled wine. They got to see all of the staff joining together in the biggest, woolliest and most generous day of the year to celebrate Save the children – National Christmas Jumper Day. Residents were all also treated to a special visit from Mr and Mrs Santa Claus.
Designated meeting suite keeping Residents connected
Residents are overjoyed at Oak Grange care home in Mollington, near Chester, as Barchester Healthcare has implemented a designated visiting room for residents to continue to spend time with their loved ones for the autumn and winter seasons in addition to the outdoor visiting that has been on offer for those able for many months.
Balancing resident wellbeing and safety is at the forefront of Barchester Healthcare’s thinking and they understand how important it is for residents and their family and friends to be able to spend time together in the safest way possible.
Home celebrates Festival of Light
Oak Grange celebrated the biggest Indian Festival Diwali, best known as the Festival of the Lights with music, a special Bollywood dance performed by activities coordinator, Claudia and lots of delicious snacks and nibbles throughout the day.
Residents and staff enjoyed decorating the home and Resident, Cynthia said “it was lovely to see such decorations, and how it had made her travel back to one of the places she had loved visiting” The homes hospitality team prepared a mouth-watering curry to mark the special occasion.
Recycling Week
During the homes popular gardening club, residents came up with the idea of recycling and giving back to Mother Earth during Recycling week. They created nice new pots by giving a bottle a second life as a museum-worthy terrarium. The residents look forward to seeing their flowers to flourish.
St Andrews Day celebrations
Residents and colleagues at Oak Grange celebrated St Andrews Day with a traditional Scottish fayre of treats and drinks. Throughout the day we discussed Scottish traditions, how St Andrews became the saint of Scotland and enjoyed short inspirational stories accompanied with Scottish music, dance, games and trivia. Everyone had a wonderful day and even took to the floor to show off their fancy foot-work!
