Activities at Oak Grange Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Intergenerational Communication

Residents enjoyed receiving handmade post cards from Grosvenor Park Academy School to mark National Grandparents Day.

Karen Fitzgerald, General Manager said: “In these unprecedented times, ensuring residents feel engaged and connected within our local community is more important than ever. Our residents really enjoyed receiving postcards and videos of the children singing songs. We provide a wide range of physical, mental and spiritual activities at Oak Grange as part of the Life Enrichment programme. Intergenerational engagements are always very popular at Oak Grange! We have also adapted ways to keep residents active, whilst ensuring that the group activities are smaller, adhering to social distancing advice”

Resident Terrance King is an advocate of the intergenerational initiative and said, “It’s so lovely that we can receive letters and it is amazing how we can see the student’s performances on video. Hearing all about the Children’s School day makes my day.”

Baking club fun

Residents from Oak Grange enjoyed an afternoon of baking, which took them back to their younger years.  Baking sessions are a popular group activity for the home and the activity had taste buds tingling as the aroma of freshly baked cupcakes wafted through the home.

The homes activities coordinator, said: “The residents enjoy spending time in the kitchen, as it not only brings back memories of their childhood, but also times when they’ve baked with their own children and grandchildren. Once all the bakes were made, we all enjoyed sitting down with a cup of tea and a home-made cake.”
