Activities at Mount House and Severn View
Our Activities team is a dedicated group whom strive to ensure that the residents of Mount House have a broad range of meaningful activities daily which reflect the needs, wants and interests of all our residents. From our larger events including Garden Parties in our spectacular grounds to birthday celebrations with live musical entertainment we always have a broad range of events to suit all of our wonderful residents. We also go on a number of outings throughout the year in and around Shropshire, many of which are linked to community organisations whom cater specifically for interests of the people we support.
Something we have always been passionate about here at The Mount is Music therapy and we offer a diverse musical programme of live music and entertainers throughout the year to suit all tastes. Food theme days and tasting afternoons, as well as regular Cookery classes and chair yoga are on offer as well as beauty therapy and massage.
We aim to consistently provide a high quality activities programme for all of our residents and ensure that regardless of limitations and circumstances each individual has the best possible experience within our home, through both a physical and mentally stimulating person-centred approach.

Life at Mount House and Severn View
Marshmallow and chocolate dipping
The residents have recently enjoyed a chocolate dipping afternoon with tasty treats such as marshmallows and fruits. The residents couldn’t wait to get stuck in, one resident said how fun it was and they all laughed at how they got chocolate everywhere. A lovely afternoon was had by all.
Our new garden room
We at the Mount House now have a beautiful garden room so that our residents and their families can enjoy the wonderful grounds that surrounds the home. There is a cosy seating area to enjoy cups of tea with soothing music playing quietly in the background. The garden room allows the residents to continue enjoying the garden and the wildlife all year round and especially when the weather is not at its best.
Dan the handy man surprises the residents!
We were all shocked when our own handyman Dan picked up a guitar and began a one-man show for our residents! The guitar belongs to one of our residents, who asks him every day to play a song for us and he didn’t disappoint. One of our other residents demanded an encore, as he played ‘Wonderwall’, ‘Sweet Home Alabama’ and other well known hits. He has already agreed to put on another show for us, we can’t wait Dan!
Smoothie Saturday
Our brand new ‘Smoothie Saturday’ activity was a massive hit! At least a dozen residents came to try out the activity we had a selection of different fruits for the residents to customize their smoothies to their own tastes. We provided the residents with bananas, oranges, strawberries, blueberries, apples, raspberries, milk and yogurt. One of the residents had three full glasses of her smoothie, she said “It’s beautiful, I can taste all of the flavours” they are all looking forward to next weekend and have already invited some of their family members to come and taste their handmade smoothies.
Carol's birthday celebrations
We like to go the extra mile for our residents on their birthday here at The mount. We asked Carol what would be her ideal birthday and she said "Opening my presents, going out for the day, seeing family and then a party with all of my friends back at the home" So we made it happen. After opening her presents in the morning we took Carol and other residents to see the flowers at Shrewsbury park, where we met Carols Auntie and Uncle and all sat eating our packed lunch on the benches. We then returned to the mount to have a tea party complete with a selection of cakes, vintage tea cups and a birthday cake. "I've had the best birthday" said Carol after blowing out her candles
Elsmere lake
At the Mount we are a short drive away from the spectacular Elsmere Lake. With this beautiful weather we decided to make the most of it and head down to the lake for a picnic. The residents loved to watch the children on their bikes and the swans naughtily pecking at the sandwiches of the visitors sitting on the bench. The residents enjoyed an array of sandwiches and a giant ice cream for dessert. One of the residents said “I can't believe the size of this ice cream it's almost the size of my head”- much to the residents amusement.
