Activities at Parley Place Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Wimborne Model Town - Teddy Trip

This week we celebrated National Teddy Bear day with a special trip for June to see the Teddy's at Wimborne Model Town
June has had her teddy with her since she was a child and she is now in her 90's, she has a photo of her as a child with her bear so this really was a special trip for June. Her love of teddy bears and listening to stories of what her teddy has seen over the years was heart warming.
June took some friends from the home with her and they had a lovely look around the displays and saw the Wareham bears which was a real highlight for June.
We enjoyed some wonderful refreshments from James' Tearooms at Wimborne Model Town - proper tea from proper tea pots!
June had a wonderful day and thank you to everyone Wimborne Model Town for making this a special trip.

We had a fabulous time at the Bourne2Sing charity concert on Saturday afternoon supporting Ferndown dementia friendly town and Plants and Minds Events and Fundraising
Over 60 people enjoyed a concert at St. Mark's & All Saints' Churches, West Parley by these amazing singers including an operatic solo which was outstanding.
During the interval everyone enjoyed a cream tea with Scones from our chef's here at Parley place, jam sponsored by Tiptree and clotted cream sponsored by Rodda’s Cornish Clotted Cream
Teas and coffees were served by some wonderful volunteers who helped with the set up and clear up as well.
A huge thank you to everyone who came along on the day and also to the amazing volunteers who gave up their time to help the charity event - the total raised was over £800 split between the 2 very worthy and local charities.

A huge Happy Birthday to our lovely Care Community Lead, Sharon for her birthday tomorrow - we aren't saying how old but think the cake might give it away!
We all joined together in the café to treat Sharon to us all singing Happy Birthday to her which she really enjoyed!
Our lovely 2nd chef makes the majority of birthday cakes for our home so we couldn't ask her to make her own so we improvised with a doughnut tower!
Happy birthday Hayley from your Parley place family!

Well done to Plants and Minds Events and Fundraising and Macmillan Caring Locally for organising such a fun event.
