Activities at Pinetree Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.
Beth Hooper
Hi my name is Beth and I am the activities co-ordinator
I have worked in care for the past 2 years as a carer and worked my way up to senior carer. My main responsibilities were looking after the frail, terminally ill and residents living with dementia. I found this role incredibly rewarding and had a sense of pride every day that I was in a position to be able to make a difference to the lives of our residents.
One of the most rewarding parts of the job is getting to know the residents on an individual basis and really finding out about what they love to do so my new role as activities co-ordinator combines the two perfectly. I love fun and laughter and finding new ways to enjoy life to the full. I am very excited about working a Pinetree and getting to know all of our residents

Life at Pinetree Care Home
Companionship
Companionship is so very important.
Two of our firsts residents have bonded beautifully over the last couple of days sharing important times together including mealtimes.
Creating friendships out of shared need is heart-warmimg to see and that we can give these special people the opportunity to do this, keep active in mind and body and thrive as individuals makes us feel humble every day.
We welcome our new residents
inetree welcomed its first 2 residents today and what a beautiful day it was.
Our lovely first residents Barbara and Rose joined us today to begin the next chapter of their incredible lives.
Each lady was asked to cut the ribbon on their new front doors which really added that sense of occasion and they thoroughly enjoyed it, especially the size of the ribbon.
They were able to enjoy a delicious meal with loved ones and staff to aid the settling in process and were greeted with special, welcome to your new home gifts from the team at Pinetree.
United In kind local community group have been hard at work over the last few months creating the most beautiful blankets and hearts to give to our residents as a little gift from them and our two ladies were blown away. The hearts were created so that the resident and a loved one could keep one each and always feel together and were accompanied by a beautiful poem. I can honestly say there wasn't a dry eye in the home.
When Barbara and Rose met for the first time it was a powerful moment. They told each other their names and instantly said, we are friends now and shared the most heartfelt hug. It was truly a moment in time that stood still for us all. To witness such emotion and elation together was magical.
Rose and her family also enjoyed a celebratory glass of Prosecco.
To understand what the move in to care means to residents and their families takes special people and the heart and soul of Pinetree is to love and nurture our residents and help their families feel safe in the knowledge that we will love their loved ones.
Team Pinetree cannot wait to enhance the life of these two very special ladies and the other residents we have coming in and help them live their best lives in whatever form that may be.
Pinetree is open and welcoming residents
We are thrilled to announce that our care home has officially opened its doors in style today, with a Grand Opening ceremony performed by Dr Margaret Wilson, CBE, Deputy Lieutenant of Essex.
Barchester’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr Pete Calveley, and General Manager, Laura Glyde, hosted the event and invited guests to view our stunning new 60-bed care home, along with its beautiful landscaped gardens, which is now open and welcoming its first residents.
General Manager, Laura Glyde, commented: “We are delighted our home is now open, our residents are at the heart of everything we do at Pinetree, and we look forward to welcoming them and their families, and becoming an active part of the local community.
“We take pride in really getting to know each of our residents to provide tailored care and support, ensuring dignity and choice in every aspect of daily life.”
A big thank you to everyone who joined us today and a special thanks to our fantastic team members who went above and beyond to make the event such a success.
Fine dining at its best
Today has continued to shine on the stars at Pinetree. Head Chef Cliff and Second Chef Jennie. WOW
The staff were treated to a fine dining experience like no other. The experience that our future residents will enjoy every day.
Food is such an important part of the move into care, diet and healthy living balanced with good food and an enjoyable experience. We at Pinetree completely understand this and we can honestly say today that our chefs are ready to give all they have to our lucky residents whilst taking into account individual requirements.
The team worked together to create a seamless service and we were lucky enough to try it out.
We are so very proud and we cannot wait to showcase our incredible chefs and their talent.
What a brilliant day
Staff appreciation is so very important. Today we celebrate some Pinetree staff.
To Margery - we wish you a very happy birthday. Enjoy your celebrations (and that INCREDIBLE cheesecake)
We also decided to celebrate the management team today and thank them for all their hard work and what better way to do that than with flowers. There were tears as this was completely unexpected.
To work with a team so dedicated, humble and all in it together is something quite special.
