Activities at Pinetree Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Celebrating life at Pinetree Care Home

Falls Prevention Workshop

Falls Prevention Workshop

Joined by Reclaim Mobility, Pinetree Care Home was delighted to host a dedicated falls prevention workshop aimed at helping older adults stay safe, active and independent.

The session was led by Sam from Reclaim Mobility, who delivered an informative presentation covering the risks associated with falls and the practical steps people can take to reduce them. Falls remain one of the leading causes of accidental injury and death among people aged over 65 in the UK, but many incidents can be prevented through awareness, preparation and simple lifestyle changes.

Throughout the workshop, attendees were given practical advice on a range of important topics, including home safety measures, identifying early risk factors, and exercises designed to improve strength, balance and stability. The session also explored how regular movement and adapting living environments can play a significant role in preventing accidents and maintaining confidence later in life.

Residents, families, carers and members of the wider community all came together for the event, creating a welcoming and supportive atmosphere. The workshop encouraged open discussion, allowing attendees to share experiences, ask questions and gain valuable knowledge from healthcare and mobility professionals.

Residents sang along with Elvis impersonator David Black, on what would have been Elvis Presley's 91st Birthday if he were still alive. Elvis was born on the 8th of January 1935 and was the King of Rock n Roll.

The residents just love it when animals come to visit the home. And I love seeing their smiles as they handle the animals. The residents were full of questions about the animals and praised Party Pets Linda Moore for her knowledge and condition of her animals - thank you Linda x.
The oxytocin flowing out of the lounge is intoxicating.

Feeding the Swans

Feeding the Swans

A nice cup of tea and feeding the Swans, to blow the cobwebs away.
We were so lucky with the weather today. As we turned into Hullbridge the clouds partied and the sun came out, just for our lovely residents to enjoy their morning of fresh air.
The Landlord at the Anchor pub couldn’t have been more accommodating; he made sure we all had a lovely warm cup of tea whilst we chatted and reminisced about times gone by when our residents may have had days out like this with their children and grandchildren. They remarked on how lovely it was to spend time together and get to know each other.
Thank you to The Anchor, we will definitely be coming back.

81st Anniversary of VE Day Celebrations

81st Anniversary of VE Day Celebrations

At Pinetree Care Home, we celebrated the 81st anniversary of VE Day with a wonderful 1940s afternoon tea party filled with music, memories, and plenty of smiles. Decorated in red, white and blue, the home came alive as residents enjoyed a fantastic wartime performance.

Throughout the afternoon, residents shared personal memories of VE Day and enjoyed watching historic footage of the celebrations that took place outside Buckingham Palace and across London, making it a truly meaningful and memorable occasion for everyone involved.

Chair Yoga, and Card Club

Chair Yoga, and Card Club

A little bit of chair yoga to start the day and limber ourselves up.
The amazing Sarah from Totally Yoga joined our residents for the morning to support with some safe movements and have fun at the same time.
This afternoon was the beginning of our residents card club. The enthusiasm was palpable and the concentration showed just how competitive and involved the residents got. We are already looking forward to next week.

Astronomy Talk

Today our wonderful residents, had the pleasure of meeting the extremely knowledgeable Quiller Hawkins, and enjoyed a talk and presentation about Astronomy.
Our residents asked lots of questions, and were fully engaged in learning about our world beyond planet Earth.
We were intrigued to find out that the moons surface would feel like flour!
One resident asked Quiller "would an apocalypse be possible and how would it happen"
Quiller was happy to answer the questions and was thrilled to see how engaged everyone was.
Enriching the lives of our residents, learning something new and engaging with each other are so important and we love how these sessions keep us stimulated all day.
