Activites at Bedewell Grange Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Read our brochure ‘Life-enriching activities’ for more information about life in our care homes.

Donna Brooks
Activities Coordinator
My name is Donna. I am the activities co-ordinator at Bedewell Grange. I joined Bedewell Grange in April 2022 and I bring lots of new exciting ideas to the role, having worked in the health and social care sector for the last 15 years. I am passionate about my role within the home and aim to bring a smile to all our residents' faces through different types of activities.
I'm bright and bubbly, so I aim to share this each day at work. I have experience in supporting our residents who are more able, as well as doing sensory Namaste sessions with our residents who are less able.
As I get to know the residents' likes and dislikes, if you would like to come and chat with me about your family member please pop in and see me.
Celebrating life at Bedewell Grange Care Home
Pet therapy
Our residents opened Bedewell Grange dog groomers to pamper our resident dog, Honey.
Honey was lathered up with bubbles and enjoyed drinking the water she was rinsed with.
Our residents always enjoy the cuddles they get with Honey as they dry her off. She was on her best behaviour and loved being rewarded with lots of love.
Bedewell sewing club
Our ladies enjoyed making little fabric animals, including elephants and birds. Using felt, our ladies quickly stitched the animals before stuffing and decorating the final artwork.
Our ladies love a nice get-together and chatted about the days when you would wear your socks if they had a hole in them. The final products were nice and colourful and our ladies were thrilled with them.
Elvis comes to Bedewell
Mike Memphis as Elvis entered the building, and you could feel the excitement as everyone looked forward to our monthly visit.
There was so much laughter, dancing and singing in the room, and it was lovely to have the company of residents' families joining us as we had a fabulous morning.

Jess Amadi
Hi, my name is Jessica and I’m a Senior Carer here at Bedewell Grange. I studied Microbiology for my BSc and later completed an MSc in International Business Management — but my heart led me in a different direction. When I moved to the UK in 2022, I discovered my true passion in caring for others, and I’ve been in the care sector ever since.
I joined Barchester in April 2024, and I honestly love what I do. Every day is a chance to connect with our residents, support them in meaningful ways, and learn something new. The team here at Bedewell Grange is incredibly supportive — it really feels like a family. I’m proud to be part of a home where kindness, respect, and compassion are at the heart of everything we do.

Home create intergenerational sensory garden
Bedewell Grange has been hosting intergenerational sessions for residents and local nursery children in association with Little Movers. The event takes place each month at Bedewell Grange, where the residents and the children enjoy music, games and activities.
Following the success of the sessions, the residents decided to create a sensory garden at Bedewell Grange, so the children could enjoy it when they came to visit.
After the planning took place, the residents got to work creating the garden for all to enjoy. The residents enjoy spending time in the garden whilst the children play in the Wendy house, the mud kitchen or whilst sitting on the toad stools listening to stories.
Connectfest
We were invited along to the Connectfest to join equal arts to paint wooden butterflies which we took back to Bedewell to varnish and hang in our garden.
We met some lovely people from different companies who we chatted with and shared ideas on keeping our residents engaged through creative activities. We thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon.
Easter Celebrations
We enjoyed a visit from the Easter bunny on Good Friday with different flavours of hot cross buns, including banana and Nutella.
We also had an egg hunt in our gardens with our residents and their grandchildren. The children really enjoyed hunting for treats and especially running around with the Easter bunny.
We finished with refreshments in the café.
Spring Production
Our residents enjoyed a morning of music from North East Producers.
North East Producers are the company we use to perform our Christmas pantomime.
Singing along to songs from Mary Poppins, The Sound of Music and a rendition of There’s No Business Like Show Business it was a musical medley of classics. We really enjoyed the morning.
Garden Centre Trip!
We went to our local garden centre to stock up on bedding and plants. Our ladies enjoyed choosing pansies and violas in a variety of colours.
We also purchased a green house to put our seeds in.
Our ladies really enjoyed the trip as they reminisced about the summer months and kept their gardens nice.
