Life with Barchester

We strive to make life at Barchester care homes as stimulating and fulfilling as possible and are committed to ensuring independence, dignity and choice in every aspect of daily life.

From carers and nurses to activities co-ordinators and chefs, our compassionate staff are all trained to use a person-centred approach and spend time getting to know every individual in order to learn what they like and what is important to them.

Meaningful activities

Everyone has different interests and abilities, so what can be considered a ‘meaningful activity’ will be different for each individual.

For some, gardening or playing croquet outdoors could be the perfect way to spend a day while others may find equal enjoyment in making a cup of tea and reminiscing about days gone by.

Our activities staff get to know what stimulates, engages and gives purpose to each individual and plan group and one-to-one activities based on feedback from residents and knowledge of their personal interests.

Food for the soul

We strive to ensure that all food served at our homes is nutritious, varied and tastes fantastic. Menus are created using feedback from residents and we aim to cater for everyone’s personal tastes.

Our talented chefs are trained at Barchester’s own chef academy where they learn to adapt their skills to a care environment and to create dishes suitable for a wide range of dietary needs.

Beautiful homes and gardens

The environment we live in has a significant impact on our happiness and well-being. Each Barchester home has a unique look and feel but all are designed to be warm, comfortable and stylish places to live in.

Where homes have outdoor spaces, they are kept beautifully maintained and set up for both relaxation and summer activities.

Enhancing well-being

Barchester’s care services are complemented by a growing Music Therapy programme, which is already making a big difference to lives of many people living in our homes and their families.

Always welcome

We know that family and friends are very important to the people we support. That's why we always warmly welcome visitors and encourage them to take part in activities and home events.
