Activities at Beeston View Memory Lane Community
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.
Luisa Painemilla
Hi there, I'm Luisa, Activities Co-ordinator at Iddenshall Hall.
I have worked with the elderly over 8 years and also for fifteen years in the social field as an Activities Coordinator for different social groups in three countries. I have a Degree in Social Integration, a Certificate in Theatrical Psychology and a Music Therapy certificate. In the past I have worked for local authorities and in a cerebral palsy home.
My work is very rewarding and it is a pleasure planning events and activities each month. I enjoy interacting with Residents and learning about their interests, preferences and experiences.

Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Beeston View Memory Lane Community
Cranage Hall Concert
For the 5th year running, we have attended the 'Thanks For The Memory Big Band Concert' at Cranage Hall. This is always a real hit with residents. This year, we met up with our sister home, Westvale House, and it was lovely seeing residents from both homes interact. We were up and dancing in the isles and singing along to all the songs.
Choir Visit
We had a performance at Beeston View from a local choir recently. The Decibellas are based in Tarporley and are a group of approximately 70 singers who perform a wide variety of songs. Residents were so impressed by their singing that one or two of them were crying happy tears, saying how lovely their voices were. We will definitely be booking them again very soon.
Group Bingo Session
We held a group bingo session at Beeston View recently. Residents from Iddenshall Hall stopped by to join in with the communal game. It was lovely to see them all interacting together and enjoying a larger group activity. We played for 2 hours and each of the winners received a small prize. There was lots of laughter and everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves. We have even had a request to make it a regular occurrence.
Grand Opening
We have recently celebrated the opening of our brand new extension at Beeston View. The Sheriff of Chester, Cllr Jane Mercer and her Consort, Mr David Challen , oined us for the morning, as did Dee106.3 Radio station, who interviewed some of the staff here. Their mascot, Chester Cat, came to have some photos taken with us all.
The Sherriff attended the opening ceremony and gave a very lovely speech before declaring the extension open and cutting the ribbon. We all enjoyed canapés and champagne afterwards and the Residents were able to meet and chat with Jane and David too.
Birthday Tea Party
We held a birthday tea party for one of our gentlemen at Beeston View recently to celebrate his 76th birthday. His wife brought him a lovely balloon and our Chefs made him his own cake. The home was decorated with birthday banners and balloons and we set up the dining room with party tables, nibbles and treats for all residents to enjoy together. The staff were treated too, as the gentleman’s wife brought us a cheesecake to share. We all sang 'Happy Birthday' whilst the birthday boy blew out his candles and then opened his presents and cards.
Creative Painting
We have been doing some creative painting with residents at Beeston View; they have been using tape to create designs on their art work. It is a creative activity that allows them to express themselves freely and also to sit together and interact at the same time. It is a very therapeutic and relaxing way to spend an hour or two.

What's going on in November? We'll be honouring Remembrance Day, celebrating our gents on International Men's Day, and welcoming our local primary school for some crafting.
Christmas Lantern Parade
We'll be joined by the wonderful St Helen's Church Choir for our parade, and there will be lots of festive refreshments available afterwards such as mince pies and mulled wine!
Internet Safety & Scam Prevention Talk
Come along as we're joined by advisors Fiona and Bev from OPAL GoOnLine Services as they talk through their experience of how best to be safe online.
