Activities at Brookfield Care Home
Our Activities coordinator dedicates her time on getting feedback from our residents of what they like to do. We have introduced paper mornings which involves group discussions and an active mind, and we also have a variety of entertainers that come in on a weekly basis. We hold a residents quiz once a week as it is one of our more popular activities, we now call it the Big Quiz due to its popularity.
It is important that we involve the community and family in many of our activities. We have the local rugby club heritage centre coming in once a week to do Bocci (indoor bowls) and seated exercise. We also hold cheese and wine evenings for family and residents which are very popular. Here at Brookfield we pride ourselves on the fabulous bond our activity coordinator has with all our residents as they are as happy to see her each morning as she is to see her friends.

Life at Brookfield Care Home
Sounds of yesteryear
Residents of Brookfield enjoying an afternoon of music when a family member kindly brought in a selection of vinyl LPs and player. Transporting our residents back to yesteryear through music can had a hugely beneficial effect as they toe-tapped to some classics and can shared memories of trips to dance halls, which evoked much reminiscence.
This type of activity also promotes socialisation and interaction within the home. This is really important for our residents for their health and wellbeing.
Afternoon Tea
An afternoon tea is always welcome, especially when the scones are fresh from the oven….residents and visitors had a splendid afternoon as they tucked into freshly made scones, jam & cream and fresh strawberries, and the main topic of conversation….. is it cream and jam or jam and cream????? No answer was reached except both ways were equally delicious!
Cheese and Wine Evening - Cheers!
There was a great party atmosphere as residents gathered with friends and family for a Cheese & Wine evening. There was a selection of wines and sherry for residents to enjoy along with a beautiful cheese platter and some homemade cake.
Song and Dance from Sandra
Brookfield welcomed singer Sandra Currie for an afternoon of song & dance, in fact Terry had her dancing before she’d even started her show!!!!
Residents were in fine voice singing along to favourites Daisy, Daisy, Que Sera Sera, Leaning on a Lamppost on the Corner of the Street and many more. At the end of the show John, made a short speech thanking Sandra on behalf of all the residents for a really enjoyable afternoon.
Birthday celebrations
Resident, Peter recently celebrated his 90-years young birthday in style surrounded by family, friends and staff in the home. Peter had a wonderful day.
Peter was over the moon with the gifts he received and was delighted to blow out the candles on his cake.
Sarah Nolan, General Manager said: “It was a lovely afternoon which was enjoyed by everyone and it was nice that Peter could share his day with family and all the other residents and the staff made sure his birthday celebrations were spectacular!”
Church Service
Brookfield welcomed Ian from St Mary's church this morning, to lead them in a communion service, voices were raised in joyful praise as the first hymn chosen was, Sing Hosannah, the service followed with prayers and a reading before residents were offered communion.
We must extend our thanks to Ian for giving his time so that our residents can continue to practice their faith and gain spiritual wellbeing.
