Activities at Cheshire Grange Care Home

The activities team are constantly striving to meet the varied needs of everyone who lives in our home, offering a wide range of group and individual social events. There are regular visits from entertainers, along with craft activities, baking, games & puzzle days and pampering sessions, which fill the week. However, we can always find time for outings and just spending that little bit of special time with residents who enjoy the peace and quiet. We aim to bring the activities to the individual, whilst making it a whole home experience.

Life at Cheshire Grange Care Home

Valentine's celebrations

Valentine’s Day is always a special occasion , but this year was extra special, as we were able to invite partners to join their loved ones for a Valentines meal of their own, tables were decorated and the hospitality prepared a special menu for the day.

In the run up to the day residents helped to make decorations and after talking about what love meant to them we made placemats with their quotes on, Give and Take, Sorry is the most important word and Enjoy it while it lasts were some of the gems.

Residents also decorated wooden hearts that we will hang on our Sent with Love Tree.

Happy birthday Jackson Pollock

In celebration of the acclaimed artist, Jackson Pollock’s birthday, residents learnt about his life and works. Inspired by this residents created images of their own, in the style of the abstract expressionist movement , but instead of using the traditional medium of paint and paper they engaged with technology and created some amazing images using the iPad. Residents on all of our communities really enjoyed creating these instant magical images.

NESCAFE virtual tour

We had a fabulous time joining NESCAFÉ’s virtual coffee experience.

We were able to look into how they sustainably farm their coffee beans, as well as, to have a virtual tour of one of their factories all from the comfort of our home.

To make things even more interesting, our residents had the chance to test their knowledge with an interactive quiz, and to the delight of all to taste the signature Sweet Cinnamon Shaken Iced Coffee cocktail.

Valentine's inspired cookery demo

We had a lovely time joining Chef Alex Connell from Vegetarian for Life for a Valentine’s-inspired virtual cookery demonstration.  Chef Alex created some delicious Valentine’s Day-inspired vegetarian desserts, which our residents had the opportunity to try too.

First, our residents sampled a wonderful sticky toffee pudding, which was absolutely heavenly. Then they tried hazelnut truffles which were a huge hit and finally they were treated to a chocolate orange cake which everyone adored.

Happy birthday Jackson Pollock

Many of our residents haven’t heard of Jackson Pollock, but they have really enjoyed getting to grips with his style of painting. We looked at some of his works, which many declared were just splashes but liked the colourfulness of them, before having ago ourselves as well as using actually paints we tried something a little different for our residents who were being nursed in bed and created images on the iPad that proved very successful.

Relaxing with a pamper

After all the hustle and bustle of Christmas a lot of our residents welcomed the chance to relax with hand massages, listening to soothing music and having their nails painted. This is a regular activity which everyone gets involved in carers, the hostess and the management team, it’s important to spend this peaceful time with individuals who like to take the opportunity to reminisce and feel special.
