Activities at Cheshire Grange Care Home
The activities team are constantly striving to meet the varied needs of everyone who lives in our home, offering a wide range of group and individual social events. There are regular visits from entertainers, along with craft activities, baking, games & puzzle days and pampering sessions, which fill the week. However, we can always find time for outings and just spending that little bit of special time with residents who enjoy the peace and quiet. We aim to bring the activities to the individual, whilst making it a whole home experience.
Jo Eland
After originally starting at Cheshire Grange in May 2015, I'm delighted to be back in the role of Activities Coordinator. It is a privilege to be in this role and spend time, getting to know our ladies and gentleman and their loved one, whilst doing all the fun things that can make such a difference to their days.

Life at Cheshire Grange Care Home
VE Day Celebrations
To mark the 75th Anniversary of VE Day, we had a week of activities leading up to the finale on Friday. The home was decked out in more red, white and blue bunting, flags and paper chains than ever before and familiar sounds of Vera Lynn, Gracie Fields & Glenn Miller filled the corridors.
We reminisced about the era; many of our residents were teenagers in 1945 and remembered the sense of relief after years of worry. They shared memories of life during the war years: schooling, rationing, missing family members, but also a sense of togetherness.
The week ended with a cheerful street party-style tea, with treats that reflected the era.
Takeaway for Sixty!
Residents and staff were treated to a take away tea from local restaurant, Elmas, courtesy of a donation from Enid Wrigley’s Dance Academy and Burak from Elmas.
Residents got into the mood as they studied the menus before making their choices. It was a feast fit for a king, with pizzas, steak pasta, garlic bread, risottos, mushroom stroganoff, halloumi, humus, pitta bread and dips.
A rainbow of thanks was sent to the restaurant and now takes pride of place in their window!
Cheshire Grange Hops into Easter party
Staff, residents and their guests at Cheshire Grange care home, in Lymm, celebrated Easter with the Easter bunny, a Easter tea party and Easter Bonnet Competition.
Cheshire Grange enjoyed eggs-tensive range of Easter activities, from Easter Quizzes, Easter Bonnet Parade, Easter arts & crafts to an afternoon tea with hot cross buns, celebrating the religious aspects of Easter and a visit from the Easter bunny. Residents also tucked in to a delicious Easter meal of roast turkey with all the trimmings and a hot cross bun inspired dessert.
Sent with Love
Families are sending in messages of love and we are putting them on wooden hearts and filling up our tree, as well as giving the residents one for their rooms. There are lots of heart-warming messages!
A Special Delivery
Residents and colleagues at Cheshire Grange were delighted to answer the door to accept a special delivery from their local pizza delivery outlet, Elmas Restaurant in Lymm Village. The boxes were filled with delicious pizzas with a variety of toppings, cheesy garlic bread and amazing gluten free steak pasta for everyone to enjoy and, in recognition of the home's hard working, dedicated team supporting residents during this difficult period.
Cream of the Crop
Our ladies and gents were certainly like cats that had got the cream with all the wonderful goodies on offer throughout Nutrition & Hydration Week.
We kicked off the week with pancakes for breakfast on our Memory Lane community, followed with a pancake afternoon tea for all the other residents.
We rolled out our new Tuck Shop Trolley, loaded with drinks, and chocolate treats, during flower arranging the ladies sampled elderflower cordial drinks, we treated residents to a sensory food 'sniffing' session, everyone guessed the red wine!!!
We also discovered a number of food & drink related songs which got everyone singing. The highlights of the week were the tea parties, when we got out the posh china and table cloths, upstairs our ladies and gents enjoyed a feast fit for royalty and downstairs the ladies had 'retro' cakes evoking many memories and prompting lots of conversation.
