Activities at Corrina Lodge Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Supporting our 'Garden Project'

To support our garden project Residents and staff have been busy designing and making  some clay tiles towards a piece of artwork we are creating for the  garden. We have also enjoyed making our own bird food so our lovely feathered friends continue to populate our gardens.  We are all really are enjoying this project.

Garden Project

The garden venture 2021 is really moving forward now. We have sunflowers planted up, also some friends of Corrina have kindly donated some plants for our garden project including, climbing French beans, runner beans, peas and a squash. They are looking very healthy in the greenhouse.

International Nurses Day 'Thank You's' to our wonderful Nurses

Today, on 'International Nurses Day'  we recognised and celebrated the fantastic team of Nurses we have here at Corrina Lodge. Our Manager Dumitru Vazaru (who is himself a nurse) thanked the team and gifted sweet treats and a certificate from Barchester Healthcare as a small token of our gratitude. A big thank you as always to our head chef Kathleen for whipping up some yummy cookies for our fabulous nurse's.

Crossword Challange

Residents and Staff  put their brain power together and enjoyed an afternoon crossword. What better way to spend a rainy afternoon.

Our wildlife photography afternoon

Residents thoroughly enjoyed last week’s talk from wildlife photographer Tom Way. We were also joined by the president of the Camberley Diamonds Women’s Institute Judy Campbell who introduced Tom and told us a brief history of the WI. Judy will be joining us again in the near future for a more detailed presentation which we are really looking forward to. She hopes to join us in person when restrictions are lifted.

Tom’s photographs were amazing and it was so interesting to hear about the lengths he has to go to capture some of his stunning photos. For example, wading and waiting in a river to capture a beaver in its natural habitat and dressing in camouflage gear and crawling along on his stomach to capture a photo of a hare.  Tom’s work has been awarded in the world’s leading photographic competitions including European Wildlife Photographer of the year and The World Sony Awards.

Purple Hearts of Positivity

Residents and staff at Corrina Lodge were thrilled to receive some amazing purple hearts of positivity from children at Ravenscote Junior school. The children aged between 7 and 11yrs old had thought really carefully about their messages to us and said it was a small way of showing how they value us and think we have all been amazing. Residents and staff are enjoying seeing the hearts which are brightening up our cafe area. A huge thank you to the children from Ravenscote from the Corrina Lodge Community.
