Activites at Corrina Lodge Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Celebrating life at Corrina Lodge Care Home

Celebrating 10 Year Long Service Award
Residents, staff, family and friends celebrated Bishal, who is a much-loved Care Assistant and member of the team and community at Corrina Lodge.
Bishal was presented his prestigious Service Award by manager Carl Francis, in celebration of working at Corrina Lodge for 10 years.
Bishal started at Corrina in March 2015 and has worked with our wonderful residents, their families and friends to ensure that their needs have been met over the years.
Very Special VE Day 80th Anniversary Celebration
New manager Carl Francis welcomed everyone for a wonderful celebration. The sun was shining as we enjoyed listening to the incredible Lucy Lou Sings for You. Our very own resident, Kathleen, sang beautifully with Lucy 'We'll Meet Again’. We also enjoyed a delicious vintage picnic tea prepared by our head chef, Kathleen.
We shared laughter, some tears, heard some incredible stories of people's memories of VE Day, Freda waving the Union Jack, Peter dancing the floral dance through the streets, Ken not being able to move as a 20yr-old lad getting off the tube in London. Special memories indeed!

Volunteers really do make a difference
Introducing our wonderful Farnborough Sixth Form Volunteers.
It's always good to welcome the girls to Corrina and their visits definitely brighten our day. During their most recent visit, the girls performed an impromptu song for the residents, which was definitely a hit.
Residents love sharing their stories and have such a wealth of knowledge. It's great to see generations coming together and enjoying each other’s company and having fun.
Easter Family Fun Day!
The Corrina Family absolutely loved welcoming their family, friends and the local community to join them for some Easter Celebrations. It was lovely to see all the children enjoying the sunshine and the visiting Browells Wood Pet Therapy animals.
Our very talented resident Jackie kindly made all our wonderful Easter baskets for the children, which were filled with delicious treats.
We had some wonderful comments from our visitors about how our home was so warm, friendly and welcoming, which was lovely to hear.
Paraguayan Harp Musician
Residents, family and friends were treated to an incredible afternoon of music from the talented musician Francisco, who plays the Paraguayan Harp.
Francisco definitely delivered an amazing repertoire of songs, which we could dance and sing along to. It was also very interesting to hear a bit about how Francisco came to play the harp and what it means to him.
Irish Dancing
We were so pleased to be able to welcome the wonderfully talented Morrígan Academy of Irish Dance. The girls' energy and professionalism were brilliant, and the beautiful costumes were captivating.
Residents also enjoyed a delicious Irish stew served with soda bread made by our talented Head Chef Kath, who also served residents some Baby Guinness drinks whilst they enjoyed an afternoon of quiz and trivia with our lovely Life Enrichment team. A really great day was had by all!
Inspire your Heart with Art Day
Residents have been letting their creativity soar in celebration of ‘Inspire Your Heart with Art Day’ at our Hobby Club.
Residents used pastels to create gorgeous sunset pictures, igniting their imaginations and sparking joy. This activity is perfect for our residents who have poorer vision and communication. Art is a perfect way to express and process their emotions in ways they otherwise might not be able to, helping to increase memory and resilience.
We talked about ways in which art inspires us to open up about the way we feel. Looking at certain colours, pictures and shapes they created.
It was lovely to see residents communicating and bonding together. Art can offer a common ground that builds a feeling of community and fights against isolation or loneliness.
Digital Radio Recording
We were joined by the multi-talented Daniel Brewerton. We had an incredible time learning about recording for radio.
Daniel showed us how the process of creating a piece for radio works.
Residents enjoyed recording, hearing and seeing how Daniel edited their voices and added sound effects. Finally producing a wonderful professional poetry reading, radio ready.
Residents said, "this has been really interesting and great fun, and we are looking forward to Daniel returning for another Radio Making Session in the near future."
This is the poem residents recorded and it sounded amazing. Their voices are perfect, full of lives lived and wisdom.

Why I love thee?
Ask why the sea wind wanders,
Why the shore is aflush with the tide,
Why the moon through heaven meanders;
Like seafaring ships that ride
On a sullen, motionless deep;
Why the seabirds are fluttering the strand
Where the waves sing themselves to sleep
And starshine lives in the curves of the sand!
Soup Club Success
One of our wonderful residents, Jackie, talked to the Life Enrichment team about how much she enjoyed making soup.
She said that one of her favourites was watercress and, with this in mind, we decided that we would make soup at our next Supper Club.
It was such a success and so delicious that we unanimously decided this should be a monthly event, and with the support of our incredible Head Chef Kathleen, the Soup Club has been created. We are looking forward to cooking French Onion Soup with Spring in mind for March.
