Activities at Corrina Lodge Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

The Onslow Arms Revisited

David, our resident and former Head Chef at The Onslow Arms, Clandon, was treated to an absolutely wonderful surprise back to his former place of work where he ran the kitchen for many years.

David often reminisces to staff about his culinary days, especially his time at The Onslow Arms, where he holds many happy memories. David expressed a wish to be back in the kitchen and so the Activities Team, with the help of Head Chef Kathleen set about making this dream come true.

Not only was David treated to a delicious fish and chips lunch, he was also given a personal tour of his old kitchen by Head Chef Colin. If this wasn’t enough, Amy, Deputy Manager had got in touch with David’s former friend and colleague Alan Peck, who owned the Onslow Arms from 1969-2001, David met Alan in the chef industry and they spent many happy years training and working together here, brushing shoulders with the rich and famous. David was absolutely thrilled to reconnect with Alan again after all these years and they spent time laughing and reminiscing together.

We would like to offer our heartfelt gratitude to all the staff at The Onslow Arms, who went above and beyond to ensure David had a day to remember. The hospitality and kindness shown to make this dream a reality for David meant the world to him. David said, ‘It’s a day I won’t ever forget, what a lovely surprise. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I can’t thank you all enough’.

Savoury Treats

Supper Club is proving extremely popular and our most recent tasty batch of savoury muffins certainly didn’t disappoint.  It is a great opportunity for those who have a love of baking and cooking to spend time together in like-minded company. The best part is that the whole of the Corrina Community get to enjoy the fruits of their labour. Delicious!

Scrabble Challenge

As a result of our popular 'Hobby Club' and on the request of some of our residents, we've formed a scrabble club and recently enjoyed an afternoon of competitive fun playing scrabble during which our residents all rose to the challenge an achieved some high value scores!

Lyndhurst School Visit

We had the absolute delight in welcoming back the Year 1 and 2 children from Lyndhurst School to join us for some intergenerational fun and games. We enjoyed board games and basketball, along with some 1-1 reading visits and finished with some wonderful story time led by Jackie who herself spent many years in the teaching profession. It is always so wonderful to see the interaction between the generations and we can’t wait to welcome the children back in September.

Corrina Festival Fiesta

Residents welcomed the local community, family and friends to join them in the sunshine for ‘Corrina Fest’. There was music, fruity pimms, and a delicious home-cooked BBQ for all to enjoy. An eclectic program of fabulous musical entertainment throughout the afternoon was provided by singer Daniel Brewerton, 3-piece band 'Side by Side' and the very talented violinist Miranda Juliet did not disappoint! A superb line-up to suit all musical tastes. Oh and forgetting manager Dumitru spending time in the stocks all in the name of charity. A fabulous £40.00 was raised for the very worthy Barchester Charitable Foundation.

Corrina Tots Intergenerational Fun

What a fantastic morning of intergenerational fun we all had at our ‘Corrina Tots’ baby and toddler group this month. Thank you so much to Ali and Jo who joined us from Camberley Library and Frimley Green Library for some rhyme time fun. Residents and children had a great time singing and playing together and there is always a wonderful atmosphere.
