Activities at Corrina Lodge Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Life at Corrina Lodge Care Home

The Rock Choir

One of our lovely residents Margaret has started on a exciting journey singing with the local Rock Choir. Margaret has always loved singing and as a child sang in the school and church choirs in Monmouthshire South Wales. As a young woman Margaret started her nursing career which kept her extremely busy and singing then had to take a bit of a back seat. So she is really happy being able to spend time enjoying, with like minded people, the joy of singing in a choir again. We are really looking forward to watching Margaret's journey unfold.

Margaret is pictured here with the wonderful Danny who Margaret says is an absolute magician in the way he brings everybody's voices together

Yoga: Wellbeing for the Mind, Body and Soul

Corrina Lodge continues to welcome the wonderful Emma Baldwin, who is a qualified yoga instructor and tailors her classes to meet the needs and develop the practice of our residents. Emma’s classes aim to support a healthy body and sense of wellbeing and inclusiveness. Residents say that they can feel the physical and psychological benefits of taking part in their weekly yoga practice.

Emma will be visiting as part of our up and coming Wellbeing Day the Corrina Lodge Community are hosting for family, friends and the local community during February.

Chinese New Year of the Rabbit

Happy Chinese New Year from the Corrina Lodge Community. It is the Year of the Water Rabbit focusing on relaxation, quietness and contemplation.

We celebrated by welcoming these lovely cuddly creatures to our home. Thank you to Debbie, who brought in some adorable bunnies, along with some other friends, to brighten up our residents morning. So many cuddles were had by staff and residents. We didn’t want them to leave!

We also enjoyed a lovely stir fry lunch and practiced some beautiful Chinese writing.

According to Chinese tradition this New Year is likely to be calm and gentle, bringing an energy that will help those looking for more of a balanced life.

Hobby Club

We have recently started our weekly Hobby Club which is proving very popular and runs every Friday afternoon for our wonderful community here at Corrina. Family and Friends often join us which is wonderful. There is time to practice a new hobby or one you already enjoy, or simply just to spend time with family and friends.

Residents have been enjoying a mix of creative hobbies, including painting and needlework. Residents are working on some lovely projects they want to continue in the club. Over the coming weeks we are going to explore hobbies residents have suggested they’d like to try such as wool crafts, origami and nail art.

Yoga
