Activites at Crabwall Hall Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Jacqui Cameron
Activities Coordinator
We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within the home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends. The home also has its very own minibus for our numerous outings for coffee and shopping, which residents love.
Celebrating life at Crabwall Hall Care Home

Motorbike visit
We'd like to say a big thank you to our resident Mike's daughter and son-in-law for bringing in their motorbikes for us to have a look at.
These machines are absolutely magnificent to look at and everyone had a great time doing so. Doreen use to have a Honda so she was super excited to see them and they didn't disappoint. As always John and Gerald asked lots of questions which Rachel and Neil were happy to answer.

Tour de Barchester
From 10th to 13th June, the annual Tour de Barchester made its grand return – and what a journey it’s been. Over 4 days, our amazing team, led by Simon McCall, Commercial Director, and Shona Conway, Project Co-ordinator, cycled an impressive 225 miles from Dumfries to Cheshire, stopping at 17 Barchester care homes along the way.
Together with colleagues, friends and members of the community, we’ve raised funds and awareness for Barchester’s Charitable Foundation – and most importantly, brought smiles and plenty of fun to all involved. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated and supported us. Here’s to next year’s ride!

Fish and chips!
On Friday last week we had fish and chips from the local chippy to celebrate National Fish and Chip Day. You can't beat a chippy dinner and everyone loved it. Later on we also celebrated D Day's 81st Anniversary. Local singer Dave Lawton came and as always he didn't disappoint.
Dave puts on such a good show getting everyone involved which we all thoroughly enjoyed. We love having days like this at Crabwall Hall.

Family photos
A home is not a home without some family photos! Look at this beautiful collage of our residents, they all look so happy!
Our residents mean a lot to us and we love to be a part of making them happy each and every day.

National Cheese Day
To celebrate National Cheese Day we had quizzes, word searches about all the different cheeses from around the world. Then we ended the day with a cheese tasting session followed with a lovely glass of wine.
We tried chill, pepper and chive cheeses which were accompanied with pickles, pineapple and crackers. Everyone had a fun day even the residents who were brave enough to try the chilli cheese which I must admit went down very well.

Carers' Week
On Friday we celebrated our amazing carers for carers week! They were treated to a buffet put together by the Manager with sweet and savoury treats galore! Just a little token of appreciation for those that deserve so much more for the love and care they show to our residents each and every day.
We also shared some of the amazing feedback they receive from loved ones, visitors and residents to remind them all of how appreciated they are. Thank you all for all you do and for making Crabwall Hall a wonderful home for our residents.

Charity!
General Manager, Nicole Welch, met with an amazing lady called Sara Crosland from The Beyond Recovery Project.
Sara is a brain tumour survivor and she is the creator and Director of this amazing charity. The charity supports people in similar situations, creating a ‘safe’ space for them and an opportunity for them to be a part of a community that can support one another and reflect on their experiences together whilst challenging themselves to outdoor adventures!
This charity’s mission is to inspire and empower survivors, promote their recovery and enhance their quality of life. They believe in the healing power of nature and its ability to positively impact physical and emotional well-being. Sara and the members of this group are truly inspiring and proof that through positive attitude and motivation, you can achieve anything!
Barchester's Charitable Foundation has recently awarded a grant of £2,000 to The Beyond Recovery Project meaning that this spring they are taking 12 of their members to a well-being weekend in Snowdonia where they have a range of activities planned, focused on healing and recovery - Amazing!
We hope everyone involved, has a fabulous weekend and we look forward to hearing all about it!

Bread Week
To celebrate National Bread Week, Jacqui, our activities lead, got together with some of our lovely ladies to bake bread.
We made all different types of one of the nation's favourite foods. From French sticks to cobs, we made them all. Afterwards, when they came out of the oven, we tried them with lots of lovely butter. Karen, Betty, Bea and Barbara were very impressed with their bread.
All I can say is Paul Hollywood, you have competition. With what's left over, we serve them for tea with our chef's wonderful homemade soup.

Therapy Dog Visit
Every Friday our residents and staff all look forward to seeing Ned. Ned is a therapy dog who comes with his lovely owner, Brenda. They both bring so much joy into our home. Everybody's faces light up when they see them, especially the residents who tend to stay in their rooms. Ned is a well-known superstar in these parts.
He's been on the local news about the great work Therapy Dogs bring to the local community, especially Care Homes, The Hospice of the Good Shepherd and the Countess of Chester Hospital, just to name a few. Brenda and Ned are both going to Crufts again next month.
Last year he won a prize which was no surprise to us all. He definitely is our very own super star. We all love him so much, even Jacqui, our activities lead who is scared of any animals. And we would also like to say a big thank you to Brenda and Ned for taking your time to come and see us. The job you both do is fantastic.
