Activities at Glebefields Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Zoe Terry
Activities Coordinator
Hello, my name is Zoe, and I am the Activity Coordinator here at Glebefields.
My mission is to ensure our residents live life to the fullest through a diverse and inclusive activities programme. I am passionate about delivering life-enriching experiences that promote both physical and mental well-being. From hosting themed events to building strong links with the local Banbury & Oxfordshire community.
I strive to create a vibrant atmosphere where every resident feels valued and empowered to try something new. For me, there is nothing more rewarding than seeing a resident rediscover a lifelong passion or gain confidence through a new hobby.
Celebrating life at Glebefields Care Home

Celebrating Our Golden Hearts at Glebefields!
We celebrated World Senior Citizens Day in the most magical way with our very own Golden Heart Awards!
We came together to honour the unique, wonderful individual characters who make Glebefields so incredibly special. From celebrating the resident with the brightest smile to honouring our resident historian, every single person was recognised for the joy they bring to our home.
Our amazing Activities Lead, Kelly, opened the ceremony with a beautiful speech. Every single award was read out, with Snobia making sure everyone received their award and moment in the spotlight and sharing the heartfelt reasons why they are so loved. There wasn't a dry eye in the house the room was completely filled with laughter and tears of joy!
Kelly shared: "I can't tell you how exhausted I am, but I am so happy and full of love knowing how happy our residents are." Our wonderful residents Rhona, Fiona, Elsie, Cathy, Beryl, and Margaret (who shed a sweet tear!) all shared afterwards “how special the afternoon was, and thank you to everyone.” We also received a beautiful video message from one of our newest residents, Pat, thanking the team for such a memorable day.
General Manager Benazir said "Thank you to our incredible team, our beautiful residents, and everyone who makes Glebefields a place of love".
Thursday mornings are reserved for Scrabble Club!
This morning, Sheela, Fiona and Beryl joined Ian, who has been with us for the last couple of weeks, for a wonderful morning of Scrabble, conversation and friendly competition.Scrabble is so much more than just a game. It provides a great opportunity for social interaction and connection, helping residents build friendships, share laughter and enjoy meaningful time together.
The game also encourages memory, concentration and thinking as players recall words, consider different possibilities and plan their next move. It supports cognitive stimulation while giving everyone the chance to exercise their problem-solving skills in a relaxed and enjoyable environment
At Glebefields, we believe that meaningful activities should be fun, inclusive and purposeful, supporting wellbeing, independence and quality of life every day.
A wonderful morning at Glebefields!
We were absolutely delighted to host the recent monthly Armed Forces & Veterans Breakfast Club at our home.
We have a truly fantastic community network with this incredible group. It is always a pleasure to provide our residents and local veterans with such an amazing, meaningful community get-together.

A huge thank you to the Armed Forces and Veterans for partnering with us to make these events so special.
We want everyone to feel welcome here, and we would love to see you at our next event!
The Magic of Puppetry returns to Residents Delight!
We were absolutely thrilled to welcome the incredibly talented Tony back to our home for another spectacular visit!
Tony brought along his amazing cast of puppet characters, bringing them to life with his fantastic ventriloquism, immense passion, and a natural warmth that fills the entire room. It was the perfect, uplifting afternoon of laughter and entertainment for everyone.
A special mention goes out to our newest residents, who recently joined the Glebefields family it was wonderful to see them smiling, laughing, and settling into home life with such a fun experience!
A massive thank you to Tony from all of our lovely residents, staff, and visitors for filling our home with so much joy and making everyone smile. We already can't wait for your next visit!
Happy Birthday Tony
Our residents Tony celebrated his birthday yesterday, with a lovely birthday cake made by the talented Head Chef Bose to help him celebrate in style. Tony received a lovely gift from the home and was surrounded by staff as he cut his cake and was sung the traditional "Happy Birthday"
At Glebefields we celebrate birthdays not just as a mark of ageing another year but as a celebration of life, achievements, and personal growth. It's a time for reflection, gratitude, and looking forward to future possibilities. Birthdays provide a special opportunity for us to help residents to gather with loved ones and create lasting memories.
Bringing Nature Indoors!
Yesterday morning, we headed outdoors to collect beautiful flowers, leaves and stems, bringing a little piece of nature back inside.
Our residents had a wonderful time getting creative and designing their very own flower vases. Each creation was unique, colourful and full of personality!
It was lovely to see everyone enjoying the fresh air, getting involved and sharing their creativity. A beautiful morning filled with nature, smiles and wonderful memories.
A Wonderful Morning Out in Banbury
What a wonderful morning out at Banbury Museum with Rachel and Margaret!
They haven’t been able to enjoy an outing for some time due to ill health, so it was truly lovely to see how much they enjoyed getting out and about again. Rachel couldn’t stop talking about how much of a difference the outing made to her wellbeing, and she is already looking forward to our upcoming trips!
Simon and Snobia accompanied them, providing wonderful company and ensuring everyone’s comfort and safety throughout the morning. And of course, no outing is complete without a delicious cuppa and a slice of cake!
It was heart warming to see the smiles, conversations and enjoyment that a simple morning out can bring. Moments like these remind us how important meaningful experiences, companionship and community engagement are to our residents’ wellbeing.
Miracle at Glebefields!
We are celebrating an incredible milestone today as our resident, Leslie “Les”, returns home fully recovered after beating a terminal medical prognosis. In January, Les came to our Banbury residential and nursing home for end-of-life care following multiple falls and a severe decline.
Doctors estimated he had just weeks left to live. But Les had other plans! With the dedicated support of our RGNs and carers, tailored nutrition, and a completely fall-free 6 months, Les slowly but surely regained his strength and full independence.
Les is a lifelong Chelsea fan, a former HMSO civil servant, and he even cheered on England at the 1966 World Cup final!
Today, his daughter collected him to take him back to his own home, sharing: "I couldn't thank the home enough for all the care and support that they provided to both Les and the family over the past 6 months.
"We are so proud of you, Les! Wishing you the happiest return home.
Glebefields Walkers Café Morning Adventure
We had a wonderful morning for our monthly walkers event today! We were especially delighted to welcome 3 new friends and one lovely four-legged companion. It was a beautiful, sunny walk.
Our newest team member, Andy (our gardener), even came prepared for the sunshine in his signature straw hat!
Thank you so much to our guests, who enjoyed a complimentary bite to eat and a relaxing rest in our beautiful lounge upon returning to our home.
Join us next month! Our next community walk is Friday, 28th August. We would love for you to join our growing group!
Connecting and Caring in Our Community!
Today, we had the absolute pleasure of welcoming Callie Early, the inspiring founder of Ace Decluttering, to our professional breakfast network meeting!
Callie provides a wonderful, deeply personal decluttering and organising service. She lends an extra hand to busy families and offers gentle guidance to anyone feeling overwhelmed by a big task ahead.
It was truly moving to hear Callie speak so passionately about her clients. She supports people from all walks of life, including busy households and individuals navigating grief who just don't know where to start.
Callie also shared a personal story that hit close to home. Her own experience helping a family member search for high-quality residential and dementia care is what brought her through our doors today and we were able to signpost her to Barchester care homes in her families area.
At Glebefields, we host this professional breakfast every second month to connect, share stories, and strengthen ties with our incredible local professionals.
Thank you for joining us and inspiring us today, Callie!
A Little Floral Creativity at Glebefields!
Look at the beautiful flower arrangements we created yesterday!
Our wonderful Deputy Manager, Jeni, showcased her talent for floral arranging alongside our amazing care team. It was lovely to see everyone getting creative, sharing ideas and having fun together. And of course… they couldn’t resist taking a little peek at the Home Manager’s desk to grab some inspiration from her beautiful flower vase!
A wonderful example of teamwork, creativity and making our home feel even more beautiful.
Poetry Reading and Creative Writing
Our residents enjoyed an afternoon of poetry reading and writing, our lovely resident ambassador Fiona got creative with her own poetry.
Friendships, laughter and enjoying moments together are important to life enrichment moments in our home. At Glebefields Care home we are passionate about residents being able to continue enjoying lifelong hobbies, as well as exploring new adventures whilst living at our home.
Community friendship is at the very heart of life at Glebefields!
We had the absolute pleasure of hosting another wonderful community coffee morning here at the home, and the room was absolutely bursting with fun, chatter, and endless laughter!
We love our incredibly special bond with the amazing Drayton Village Community group. Whether they are visiting us here at the home or our residents are heading out to see them at the Drayton village hall, these regular get togethers are always a massive highlight for everyone involved.
A huge shoutout to our wonderful Resident Ambassador, Fiona! She brought so much joy and warmth to the room, sharing some truly lovely moments and deep bellied-laughs as she caught up and engaged with a lovely lady from the Drayton community village.
Thank you so much to everyone from the village who came along to share a cuppa, a slice of cake, and a good old catch-up with us. We are already looking forward to our next get-together!
Scam Prevention Talk Success at Glebefields From Age UK Oxfordshire
A huge thank you to Mandy Massam from Age UK Oxfordshire for visiting Glebefields to deliver a vital talk on scam prevention!
Mandy shared eye-opening insights into the clever tactics scammers use across phone calls, texts, emails, and even doorstep visits, noting that only 1 in 5 scams are actually reported due to confusion or embarrassment.
Residents, staff, and families left with practical tools, safety leaflets, and the confidence to spot fraud early.
Our General Manager, Benazir Shakkir, extends her sincere thanks to Mandy for this incredibly informative session.
If you need support protecting your details or securing your digital devices, Age UK Oxfordshire offers fantastic free home visit services to help keep you safe.
A wonderful day out at People’s Park, Banbury!
Our residents had a lovely time exploring the beautiful flower displays, watching the birds, and enjoying the peaceful surroundings.
The colourful gardens brought plenty of smiles and sparked many happy conversations as we took in the beauty of nature together.
To round off our outing, everyone enjoyed a delicious coffee and refreshments at the park café, making it a perfect morning filled with relaxation, laughter, and great company.
Days like these create special memories and promote wellbeing, social connection, and joy. We can’t wait for our next adventure!
