Activities at Glebefields Care Home

Celebrations were in full swing this morning as we gathered together with family, and friends from the local community to rejoice our beautiful resident; Margaret Foster’s 102nd birthday!

Margaret was joined by staff, relatives, friends and other residents as she marked her landmark birthday with a special ‘community coffee morning’.

It was Margaret’s wish to invite all the attendees of Drayton Village Hall’s monthly coffee morning to join her in celebration over tea and plenty of cake! We even held a free tombola as Margaret loves the excitement of a prize draw.

Chef provided freshly baked shortbread biscuits, iced cup-cakes and a terrific birthday cake. The room was full of love, laughter and conversation with the odd burst of song… from Happy birthday to my old man’s a dustman!

Deputy Manager; Jeni said “We were  delighted to see so many from our local community celebrating a truly remarkable lady as she reaches this amazing milestone. Margaret is such a popular resident, her elegance shines through at all times, a true lady whose life deserves to be celebrated.”

We had a great time pumpkin carving today at Glebefields! Residents really enjoyed getting creative and having a laugh together while getting ready for Halloween.

Glebefields Care Home Celebrates Resident Betty’s Remarkable 103rd Birthday.

Residents, staff, family, and friends at Glebefields Care Home came together to celebrate a truly special milestone – the 103rd birthday of their much-loved resident, Betty.

The home was filled with smiles and laughter as everyone gathered for a lovely cake-cutting party, complete with music, warm wishes, and plenty of reminiscing. Betty was surrounded by her family and friends, who were delighted to celebrate such an incredible occasion alongside the Glebefields team.

Benazir Shakkir, General Manager said: “It was such an honour to celebrate Betty’s 103rd birthday with her. She’s an inspiration to us all — full of wisdom, kindness, and spirit. We’re so proud to have her as part of our Glebefields family.”
The day ended with plenty of laughter, hugs, and heartfelt toasts to Betty, a truly extraordinary lady who continues to brighten the lives of everyone around her.

Glebefields residents had a lovely day out at the Banbury Fun Fair! Our residents had a brilliant time taking in the sights and sounds, enjoying the rides, and treating themselves to some tasty goodies. Full of laughter, smiles, and happy memories, it was a day to remember

Our residents enjoyed a cosy minibus trip to Cotefield Nursery today afternoon, catching up with old friends, having lovely chats, and browsing seasonal plants and Halloween decorations.

We had a beautiful morning with Rector Alicia, who joined us for our Harvest Festival Service. Everyone enjoyed the hymns, stories, and prayers together ,it was such a peaceful and heartwarming time. Our residents and staff really loved coming together to give thanks and share in the spirit of this season.

Lovely trip out to M&S and then lunch out after. Our residents really enjoyed shopping around and having a nice meal together, lots of smiles, chatting and laughter all the way. Such a lovely day out.

We had a brilliant afternoon here at Glebefields with the wonderful Bill Tustain, back again with his lovely singing and keyboard playing.Our residents and staff absolutely loved it, thank you, Bill, for another fantastic performance. We’re already counting down to your next visit.

Our residents had a brilliant time this week joining Alfie’s fun exercise session – full of energy, laughter, and great music! Everyone got stuck in, keeping active and feeling fantastic together. 

At Glebefields we love to support our residents do the things they used to do at home. This week our residents enjoyed a lovely afternoon baking and decorating cupcakes together. All the mixing, the smell of baking and finishing off each cupcake with cream had them reminiscing about children's parties and cookery lessons at school.

We had a wonderful Open Day today filled with laughter, warmth, and creativity. Residents, staff, and visitors joined in our autumn flower arranging session, making gorgeous pumpkin displays while enjoying hot drinks and friendly chats. It was a lovely day showing off our beautiful home and sharing special moments together.

Our residents and staff had a wonderful time celebrating Diwali – the festival of lights! Everyone enjoyed traditional Indian sweets, colourful cultural dress, and lots of laughter. It was a super afternoon filled with warmth, light, and togetherness.

We were delighted to take part in NAPA Arts in Care Homes Week, celebrating creativity and connection through this year’s theme, #goinggreen . Our residents enjoyed a week filled with arts, crafts, and music, exploring creativity while reflecting on shared experiences. It was wonderful to see so much joy and imagination come to life across our home.

We had a wonderful visit from Liz and Devinder – In2Culture, who performed freedom songs to celebrate Black History Month. Our residents really enjoyed the music and joined in with smiles all round!
