Activities at Kenwyn Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Chloe Alcock
Chloe loves bringing creativity into our home and making our residents smile. Whether she's engaging residents with her artistic flair or simply brightening their day, Chloe is always finding ways to connect with those around her.
When she’s not at work, you’ll find her cozy under her favourite blanket with a cup of tea, crocheting or playing video games.
Chloe has a passion for animal care which led her to volunteer at Shepreth Wildlife Park, where she worked with red pandas, lemurs, and coatis. She’s also an award-winning artist, having earned the Royston Art Society’s Young Artist Award, and studied Game Art at Falmouth University, She brings a wealth of creativity and skills to our residents.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Kenwyn Care Home

Music Therapy
Our residents absolutely love music, and last week, we had another fantastic music therapy session with Melanie!
During the session, everyone got to interact and participate in the songs with a wide range of instruments. Melanie, with her guitar and harmonica, sang her heart out and personally connected with each member of our audience.
It was a hear twarming and engaging afternoon that brought smiles to everyone's faces. Music truly has a way of uniting us and creating unforgettable moments!

Arts and Crafts at Kenwyn
Arts and crafts are a much loved pastime of our residents, especially as we've been keeping busy during these chilly days. Our residents love expressing their creativity through painting, drawing, colouring and crafting, and more importantly, the chats and social interactions during the sessions. We also watched 50s and 60s music videos during one of the painting sessions, which the residents thoroughly enjoyed, listening and singing along while getting their creative juices flowing! Happy faces and some beautiful creations are the result of these art sessions.

Kenwyn's Reading Club
One evening this week we held Reading Club. The subject: ‘A house fit for a Queen.’
Studies have found many benefits of reading for older adults. These include everything from reducing stress and enhancing sleep to improving memory circuits, sharpening decision-making reading in groups can improve empathy too!
Our residents really enjoyed taking part and all engaged in this great activity session.

Celebrating 10 years in the job!
We always make sure there is time to recognise and celebrate here at Kenwyn, and what better way to do this than when one of our colleagues’ reaches a milestone?
Mandy Verran is worth her weight in gold and the staff team here at Kenwyn all recognise that.
A valued Health Care Assistant night shift team, Mandy has just achieved her 10 years’ service.
Chatting with Mandy it is easy to see the passion she has for the home and residents. She says: ‘As long as my residents are happy, I am happy.’

Staying physically fit and active is important, and we ensure that active movement is woven into our residents' routines. Here are some of our incredible residents showcasing their movement skills with enthusiasm! And to add a little extra zest, we couldn't resist having a lively dance party afterward! What fun!
