Activities at Lethen Park Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Amanda McCarthy

Activities Coordinator

We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within the home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends

Life at Lethen Park Care Home

A Day of Relaxation & Games

During the month of August we really had fun with playing board games. On  national relaxation day we decided to have a good old game of scrabble. Our Games club was very busy this morning. Mabel, Marleen, Jim, Davie and Netts all really loved and enjoyed this this together. We enjoyed coming up with great words like (when, Home, Windy, Barn, Plugs, Clone)

During this club we shared memories of school games and board games and when we played them. Jim shared a loving memory of sitting around the table at school with his friends playing scrabble and he shared the feeling of Joy with us. Jim said this game brings back many wonderful competitive memories or trying to be smarter than his friends.

We look forward to our next meet up.

Leysa's very generous donation!

Sandy was delighted to welcome his daughter Leysa into the home. Leysa recently climbed to Everest base camp to raise money for local charities and good causes. Lethen park was lucky enough to receive a donation of £1500 which has been used to purchase a disability Bike.

Sandy was so happy and full of pride to welcome his daughter into the home with this huge cheque.

Sandy Said “at times I get upset that I cant use my legs the way I use to however I am so happy my daughter can”

Sandy is looking forward to the first ride on the bike when it arrives at its new home.

Mr Gordon's Perfect Day

One of our residents, Mr James Gordon, spent his birthday in a very special way. Hannah Mr Gordons granddaughter took him to the Alford Valley Community Railway line for his 98th birthday this was the organisation that he originally founded. The Loco is named after himself. Mr Gordon was so happy and delighted to spend the day with his granddaughter and all his fellow friends at the club.

Mr Gordon was able to reminisce and connect to his past during this visit and was so very happy and very contented. Mr Gordon was able to continue his passion for trains and was able to speak to like minded people. James loved meeting old and new faces on this visit.

James says “I am so grateful that I got to visit the train so late on in my life, my heart is filled with lots of love”

Interactive fun with our Rainbow Table

Lethen Park has recently brought a new splash of colour to residents’ lives by installing a digital Rainbow Table which brings with it a whole new world of interactive possibilities.

The Rainbow Table is a versatile digital platform that uses all kinds of interactive games and apps to connect people with each other, their family members and friends, all while stimulating movement and cognitive activity. The Rainbow Table can be used individually or as a group, residents are invited to play all kinds of games, take part in activities and classes, quizzes, brain training and sensory apps, connect with others via Zoom, watch films and TV programmes, listen to music, the possibilities really are endless.  It is a great way to spark discussions, get everyone up and dancing, debating, reminiscing, the Rainbow Table is rapidly becoming everyone’s favourite piece of kit.
