Activities at Lethen Park Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Amanda McCarthy

Activities Coordinator

We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within the home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends

Life at Lethen Park Care Home

Virtual event with the Wallace Collection

We had a lovely time joining Holly and Marie-Therese from the Wallace Collection, for a virtual introduction to the Collection, followed by a sensory exploratory walk through one of the museum’s most famous landscape paintings.

The Collection ranges from Old Master paintings to 18th century French furniture, arms and armour.

We all had a wonderful time and cannot wait to put our creative skills to a test and paint some landscapes in the upcoming days.

World Health Day

We dedicated our day to promote the benefits of good health and wellbeing in recognition of World Health Day.

Our residents got involved in sensory and relaxing activities and fun-filled games, specially designed to improve and stimulate their physical health, as well as, mental wellbeing.

During the day, they explored a number of nutritious recipes including some delicious fruit salads and smoothies.

We also took time to thank all team members at the home and also to acknowledge all hardworking healthcare professionals.

ABBA Performance

On the 6th April our very own dancing Queen, Amanda our Activities Coordinator sang her heart out for the residents. 6th April was the day that ABBA won the Eurovision with Waterloo.

Amanda was so delighted that all residents had a great time and enjoyed putting a performance on.

Easter Preparations

Preparations are in full swing at Lethen Park as we get ready for the Easter celebrations.

Residents had a fabulous day decorating our craft trees and can't wait to see them displayed around the home. Great fun had by all

Century celebrations

Celebrations have been in full swing at Lethen Park, as one of its residents reaches his centenary in style.

Johnny Allan was joined by staff and other residents as he received a telegram from the Queen in recognition of his landmark birthday.

Lethen Park staff travelled the extra mile to make his 100th birthday the special day he deserved. From breakfast with the First Minister of Scotland (albeit a cardboard cut-out), a football-themed cake followed by a lunch buffet to a surprise ‘This is Your Life’ - it just couldn't have been any better. Apart from his greeting from HM The Queen, he also received another royal letter from HM Margrethe, the Queen of Denmark and Col-in-Chief of his old regiment, The Buffs.

Visit from a furry friend!

Today we enjoyed a visit from our furry friend, Toby.

Toby has been building strong relationships for the past 5 months with our residents. Toby is a 7 year old jack Russel who loves cuddles and treats. Toby loves nothing more than getting cuddles on the sofa and his favourite treat is a tuna sandwich!

Toby never fails to put smiles on our staff and residents face!
