Activities at Lethen Park Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Lethen Park Care Home
Virtual cookery demo
To celebrate National Vegetarian Week, staff and residents at Barchester’s Lethen Park care home in Portlethen were treated to an interactive virtual cookery demo courtesy of chef, Alex Connell, from Vegetarian for Life.
Chef Alex whipped up some tasty, healthy vegetarian snacks in a live, interactive cookery demo. Much to residents’ delight, Lethen Parks head chef Charlie had prepared the same recipes so that residents could try all the dishes. Residents sampled delicious, light and summery veggie dishes including Borlotti bean and dill pate, Greek fritters with Tzatziki and Coronation 'chicken' pastries. All finished off with a sweet and simple but totally yummy banana bread.
Residents brightens up day with gift
The staff in our Memory Lane community were delighted to receive a small gift as a token of thanks and appreciation from a resident, who simply wanted to say ‘thank you’. The team were touched by the thoughtful gesture and it brightened their day.
Community spirit brings overwhelming response!
When Lethen Park reached out to their local community to see if anyone had a Wii they no longer used so Residents could benefit from new games and activities as part of their life enrichment programme, they were amazed at the communities generosity and the response, and wish to say a massive thank you!
Residents are enjoying the consoles, games and accessories and keeping busy with their new technology. Residents are benefiting for the new socialisation and activity they brought.
Relaxing games on Boxing Day
Once the festivities were over, Residents enjoy a more relaxing time on Boxing day with a games afternoon. Small socially distanced groups settled themselves throughout the home to enjoy a selection of games, from cards, dominoes or those simply finding all the pieces to complete a jigsaw whilst gentle music played in the background.
Local schools share a little festive cheer
Residents of Lethen Park are delighted they have been able to keep in touch via virtual activities and letters with their friends in the community during these challenging few months. Residents always enjoy looking at the letters and cards which they receive and Christmas was no different when they received cards from local primary schools and the nearby Academy. Everyone enjoys reading the cards and Residents are busy writing their replies!
Remembrance
Lethen Park commemorated Remembrance Day, where they joined the rest of the United Kingdom in holding a two-minute silence at 11am.
As well as marking Remembrance Day by wearing poppies and watching the televised service, for one resident it was poignant day to remember time spent fighting for his country and remember colleagues who died in the line of duty.
