Activities at Lethen Park Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Amanda McCarthy

Activities Coordinator

We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within the home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends

Life at Lethen Park Care Home

Dance Therapy

Residents at Lethen Park had a great afternoon freelance dancing with Ruth Kent Dance Therapy.

Ruth paid a visit to residents for an afternoon of gentle therapeutic armchair exercises to music, which everyone really enjoyed, the music soon had everyone up out of the chairs, with laughter heard throughout the home.

She provided props, such as scarves and hats for different sequences, which were really easy to follow, and the residents had a great time participating. They especially loved the props.

A huge thank you to Ruth for paying us a visit; her session provided a lovely, lively social environment.

Dominoes Club

We have started a Dominoes Club for the residents in the evening twice a week, and they really enjoy the social and fun of it. A number of residents at Lethen Park have had a great time playing a game of dominoes with each other and squeezed in a quick natter and a cuppa in between games.

Let's Dance!

Residents and colleagues danced the afternoon away as they held their very own silent disco to the delight of all! The stage was set and the headsets were brought out to get those toes tapping.

There was lots of laughter to be heard throughout the home, as every set of headsets had different music on them. Residents could be heard laughing as they all sang along to the music, but all to different songs.

Some got their dancing shows on and enjoyed a dance together or in the comfort of their chair. The afternoon proved to be a huge success for everyone involved!

This activity took place before the coronavirus lockdown.
