Activities at Lindum House Care Home
Our fantastic Activities Coordinators make sure that there is a full programme of social events to suit all interests and capabilities. They aim to not only to stimulate, but to ensure that everyone involved has lots of fun. We enjoy trips out visiting local places of interest or just to explore, which inevitably ends up with us having a lovely lunch somewhere.
There are regular concerts that we hold in the home that allows us to have a good old singalong, and our community links include the local churches, knit and natter groups and toddler groups coming in to see residents.
On a daily basis, everyone enjoys a variety of activities, including quizzes, bingo, arts and crafts, reminiscing and movement to music. We also host movie afternoons on the big screen which, of course, involves popcorn and ice cream at the interval!
Any residents who are unable to join us in the communal areas for activities have one-to-one time in their rooms, with us either reading to them, chatting or anything else they wish to do that’s within their capabilities.

Hi there, I'm Kelly. My role at Lindum House ensures all of our residents always have lots of fun activities to look forward too.
I grew up down south, my parents worked in news trade & I've lived in many places! I've lived in hull for 20 years now, worked in health and social care for around 15 years, I started on care, worked through domestic, kitchen assistant and found my calling with activities!
I'm a super social person, enjoy being busy and sing in my spare time. I am part of a small singing charity group 'guise & gals'. I've been singing karaoke since I was 18 but never had the confidence to take it any further. I do, however, love putting on a show for our residents!
I'm a strong believer in 'treat people how you wish to be treated' everyone is different and it's important to focus on each individuals wants and needs, to encourage and nurture life, you only live once!
I'm full of energy, providing there is music... it's good for my soul!
Our residents smiles are my reward, it makes me so happy to see them enjoying them selves.

Life at Lindum House Care Home
World Braille Day
World Braille Day is celebrated every year on the 4th January, the birthday of Louis Braille. Braille is a system of raised dots that can be read with the fingers, and it is used by people who are blind or have low vision. The system was invented by Louis Braille when he was just fifteen years old, and it has been helping people to read and write for over 200 years.
On World Braille Day, we celebrate the life of Louis Braille and the incredible gift that he has given to the world. We also remember that blindness is no barrier to achievement, and we celebrate the accomplishments of all people who are blind or have low vision.
Christmas Day at Lindum House
Here at Lindum House care home we had a fantastic Christmas Day, which involved themed movies, singing and dancing, family visits followed by a beautiful festive lunch with turkey, roast potatoes, pigs in blankets, puddings and cakes.
In the morning we welcomed Father Christmas and his elves from the North Pole, who brought gifts to all our residents before the festive feast, prepared by our talented chef and kitchen team.
After lunch, we tuned in to watch and listen to the King's speech. Our day was filled with joy, smiles, music and laughter.
We hope you all had a lovely Christmas too!
Festivities in full swing!
Our residents enjoyed an afternoon of smiles with a live music performance that took place at the home. Local singer, Chrissy performed a selection of all-time favourite Christmas songs which brought so many happy memories to all. Our residents joined in with the singing, and clapped along.
You can see by the smiles, it was very much loved.
General Manager, Jayne said: “Christmas really is the most wonderful time of the year and our fantastic residents love to get festive so we’ve pulled out all the stops. It is so lovely to see them all getting into the Christmas spirit, it’s definitely my favourite time of year.”
Christmas Cookery Demonstration
We had a fantastic time joining Chef Alex Connell from Vegetarian for Life for a Christmas-inspired live virtual cookery demonstration.
Chef Alex showed us how to make and decorate a gingerbread house for the upcoming festivities. Our residents truly enjoyed the experience and cannot wait to put their skills to the test.
To make things even more exciting, we will have the opportunity to make our own gingerbread house and enter a themed competition, where Chef Alex will judge the entries.
All in all the afternoon was an absolute triumph!
Christmas Cake Competition
Our Residents have been getting in to the Christmas spirit and have made their cakes towards the Barchester Christmas Cake Competition.
It was lots of fun deciding which decorations to use and where to put them
We had some lovely discussions while we did this about the previous cakes they'd made at home for their Families and Friends and their favourite parts of Christmas.
Christmas Tree Festival
We've enjoyed a visit to the Christmas Tree Festival in Beverley Minster to see our fabulous tree and all the others.
One Resident was Christened in the Minster, went to the Girl's School opposite, was married in there and had her Children Christened there too, so has a rich History with the Church so was lovely for her to return and relive some happy memories
We were then invited over to the Peter Harrison room for a cup of coffee and a Mince Pie. It was a great day!
